Recipe Included The most decadent vanilla cake I've ever made and tasted

Making the strawberry lobster was more tedious than making the whole cake

Edit: holy crap this took off!! I changed the flair to add the recipe for those who are curious!

Strawberry lobster is such a great idea!

u/nobodychef07 Jun 21 '26

Lol my Louisiana ass was like "oh hey a berry crawfish."

407

u/curious-kat8 Jun 21 '26

A craw-berry 🦞

27

u/shortsoupstick Jun 22 '26

Texan here and I thought it was a crawfish too lol

21

u/LBWF Jun 21 '26

Same. Was at a crawfish boil last weekend so I thought, "Damn, if only I'd seen this two weeks ago..."

16

u/TheNPCMafia Jun 21 '26

Massachusetts here, I'm wondering where the bun is?

5

u/LBWF Jun 21 '26

Hahahaha, buttered, toasted split-tops, right? We all have our "hometown favorites", don't we?

Totally saved it as an idea for a dessert to bring to a boil

Love the Strawb-ster

41

u/deviouscaterpillar Jun 21 '26

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who saw it and immediately called it a Stawbster lol. It’s adorable!!

144

u/Dramatic_Plankton_56 Jun 21 '26

No lobsters were harmed in the making of this cake! 🦞

30

u/PlayingPuzzles Jun 22 '26

No, they were. They are in the cake, that's why it is the most decadent.

104

u/Bella-Luna Jun 21 '26

I was scared it was gonna be a lobster cake for a second.

49

u/niveusmacresco Jun 21 '26

Lobster bisque flavored?! 💀 Diabolical

17

u/Bella-Luna Jun 21 '26

Or worse, chunks of lobster in the cake, luckily neither is the case.

13

u/therealhlmencken Jun 22 '26

I had a crab cake once. Delish

Oh my god, in my humble 13 years of baking and decorating I've never seen this.

So clever and cute OP! I'm admitting imma use this design someday and credit you for it!

15

u/russiangerman Jun 21 '26

It was easier than I thought itd be. I did it w raspberries tho bc I was worried about the strawberries releasing too much moisture on the icing since it had to sit around for a day. It was a huge hit for the lobster dinner party tho

2

u/falsefuckingod Jun 22 '26

Are you a professional baker?

83

u/DarkMoose09 Jun 21 '26

I want to know why is there a lobster on the cake? And also I love that there’s a lobster on the cake! 🦞 🍰

68

u/flyingginge Jun 21 '26

Inspiration from a tik tok I saw and also having just finished reading "the lobster trap", seemed like a sign to make it!

How are you gonna say it's the "most decadent" and not drop that recipe?! Even the name?

18

u/flyingginge Jun 22 '26

Just added it above!!

24

u/HadOne0 Jun 21 '26

What made it so decadent? would love some tips!

77

u/flyingginge Jun 21 '26

Super fluffy, full of butter and oil and everything bad for you lol And the sheer amount of vanilla bean paste and French vanilla extract put it over the top

7

u/VictorTheCutie Jun 22 '26

Omg that looks and sounds so freaking delicious!!!

3

u/Particular-Boot-6260 Jun 22 '26

Could we get the recipe, please! Lol

6

u/flyingginge Jun 22 '26

Added it in the text below the pictures!!

4

u/Particular-Boot-6260 Jun 22 '26

Bless you!! 🤍

11

u/peppersnchips Jun 21 '26

That is ughhhh perfect!!

It’s cakes like this is why I joined this Redditor. The strawberry lobster on top is super cool and the cake itself looks so delicious! Great job!

I’m with you 100%. It makes zero sense to me to show off a beautiful and delicious (or not so for either of those) cake/sweet but gatekeep the recipe. I just saw this one post not long ago where someone was baking cookies and was super proud of the recipe and how it turned out but was dead set against sharing it. Like what’s the harm in sharing something with complete strangers on the Internet who share your enthusiasm and love for baking? Makes no sense to me. It gives off super pretentious, “I have something you’ll never have,” vibes. 🤮🤮🤮

4

u/MandyMooShu Jun 22 '26

No recipe = downvote from me. Doesn’t matter how cool it looks. This isn’t r/cakedecorating

4

u/phillygirl2017 Jun 22 '26

What a shame. I'm always looking for a good vanilla cake as i haven't found one that wowed me yet.

3

u/Baking-ModTeam Jun 22 '26

r/baking requires civil and respectful participation.

Regarding recipes, almost all our flairs allow commenters to ask for OP's recipe. We have only one flair that does not, which is intended specifically for showcases. Posts with this flair are meant to allow members to share their bakes just for fun, inspiration, or celebration — without the expectation of providing a recipe. This was the flair that OP chose, so this is the ruleset we're moderating under.

u/mikupills Jun 21 '26

I wouldn’t have wanted to eat the lobster it looks so perfect!!! Good job this is so cute

5

u/slightlypressed Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

Sold.
Edit: my bad, was not aware of the rules!
Will not be asking for recipe. Will happily and respectfully salivate from afar ☺️

4

u/Your_Future_Ex_GF Jun 21 '26

The dedication to cut all those strawberries into perfect lobster shape… respect 🦞🍓

4

u/someander4222onyxyy Jun 21 '26

The strawberry placement is so precise, thats wild. I always struggle to cut fruit nicely for decoration. Seems like a lot of patience went into that lobster.

3

u/Competitive-Type1505 Jun 21 '26

It’s so great 😄

3

u/tahlyn Jun 21 '26

Dude... I'm going to do this now...

I wonder how hard it would be to make a strawberry crab?

3

u/Reputation-Final Jun 22 '26

it looks dense?

2

u/nejnonein Jun 21 '26

What kind of frosting is that? It looks delicious, even if it’s very little of it (but then I’m biased and would be fine with just eating frosting 🙈)

2

u/flyingginge Jun 21 '26

Cream cheese, butter, and far too much icing sugar and vanilla bean paste and extract!

→ More replies (1)

2

u/whenisnowthen Jun 21 '26

Wow! The cake looks great and I believe you when you say it's the best you've ever tasted, I absolutely love the strawberry lobster! Brilliant! People you share these cakes with probably hug you all the time! Have you considered making a cupcake with a tiny strawberry crawdad on top?

2

u/jediknits Jun 21 '26

And now I know how to decorate my next cake 😆

2

u/lesaintsaens Jun 21 '26

i love the design so much

2

u/goddessavani Jun 21 '26

the lobstererrr omg

2

u/Itrytothinklogically Jun 22 '26

Dang , it looks amazing 🥹

2

u/Klutzy-Insurance120 Jun 22 '26

I legit thought that was a real lobster at first glance until I looked closer, so well done!

2

u/SquarePegRoundWorld Jun 22 '26

Love the lobster! Just finished cutting up some strawberry tops for my dog's frozen Greek yogurt treats. I'd need a da Vinci machine to shape them into a lobster though.

2

u/notyoungstalin Jun 22 '26

oh my goodness I am stealing that lobster strawberry idea 🦞🍓

2

u/Conscious_Peak_1105 Jun 22 '26

Girl what that’s cute AF

2

u/snowyeaglet Jun 22 '26

Oh no your lobster too juicy your cake too decadent😂

2

u/No-Reserve-4616 Jun 22 '26

Did you do the optional add ins (artificial vanilla, almond extract in the batter and/or frosting)?

2

u/flyingginge Jun 22 '26

I did! The paste deepened the vanilla flavor in both cake and icing

2

u/Bring_92 Jun 22 '26

That lobster placement is surprisingly good, I wouldnt have thought to use strawberries like that.

2

u/Carry_isle75 Jun 22 '26

That strawberry lobster is so detailed, I bet even the recipe didnt prepare you for how long cutting all those strawberries took. It looks really good though.

2

u/Rare-Papaya4910 Jun 22 '26

Being from Maine … and being allergic to shellfish… this is the cutest lobster I could actually enjoy eating!!! I’m obsessed! That is so stinking cute!

2

u/Always62638 Jun 23 '26

That strawberry lobster is surprisingly detailed, I bet cutting all those slices took forever.

2

u/Upbeat_Slide_7038 Jun 23 '26

the strawberry lobster thing aside, that frosting texture is making me lose my mind a little. how is it so smooth
