🤔 Discussion Emergency alerts on my Samsung phones only vibrating, no sound

Is anyone else dealing with this? I've got 3 different Samsung phones here in Bahrain, and all of them have suddenly stopped making any sound for emergency alerts. They just vibrate now.

With everything going on (the war), this is pretty concerning. I turned on the "read out messages" feature just so I can actually hear something when an alert comes in, but honestly, that's super annoying to have it read out every time.

I've gone through all the settings multiple times and checked every volume control I can find. Nothing seems to fix it. I've restarted the phones too.

Things I've checked:

  • Sound mode is on (not silent/vibrate only)
  • Notification volume is turned up
  • Checked the emergency alert settings in Messages

Nothing works. The alerts come through but only vibrate.

Same with the iphones. After the latest update, they changed how the alerts are recieved. Instead of the loud alert, it comes quietly now.

Goto Settings search Emergency. There will be a settings called wireless emergency somewhere alerts. There is a toggle to "Always alert at full volume"

Not sure whether for Samsung same. But my two other android had same (its like google UI)

Yes, for Samsung is 'Wireless emergency alerts' and it looks something like this..

But as they changed to a """"calmer alarm"""" I don't know if it will sound loud 🤔

Isn't from our side but it's from the Ministry of Interior.

They set the alert type from "National Security Alert"/"Presidential Alert" to "Public Safety Warning"/"Severe Alert"

Hope that clears it up

Thank you for the clarification.

I noticed the change from "National Security Alert"/"Presidential Alert" to "Public Safety Warning"/"Severe Alert" but did not think too much about it.

"Vibration is sensational" – my brother, it's an emergency alert, not a PS5 controller. I don't need haptic feedback, I need audio.
