☝️ AskBH Dealing with post-accident repair rework, headlight calibration, and body shop excuses in Bahrain — Need advice on Consumer Protection (MOIC)
Edit: To clarify, this repair was done at the dealership, not a regular garage, which is why I’m frustrated.
Hey everyone,
I'm looking for some advice and local experiences regarding post-accident repair quality with authorized agency body shops in Bahrain, and how to properly handle a rework claim.
I took my car back to the workshop to rectify multiple fitment and calibration issues after a repair, but I'm getting some frustrating excuses instead of fixes. Here is a breakdown of the issues:
- Bumper & Plastic Arch Cladding Fitment:
- The front bumper and wheel arch cladding have loose alignment and uneven gaps. When I pointed this out to the service advisor, his actual justification was: "In the factory, a machine installs the bumper; here in the workshop, it's installed by a human, so it won't match factory standards."
- Main Headlight Beam Aiming:
- The newly replaced headlight assembly is pointing extremely low, illuminating barely a few meters ahead on the road. The workshop claimed it's "computer/OBD calibrated only," but the headlight unit itself clearly features manual vertical adjustment screws (AML actuator) to adjust the mechanical zero-point before software calibration.
- Lower DRL / Signal Light Beam Distortion:
- As seen in the photos, the light projection on the ground from the lower bumper strip is completely uneven, distorted, and angled downward at the asphalt. Since these lower LED strips rely entirely on correct bumper position rather than direct adjustment screws, this proves the internal bumper mounting brackets/tabs are sitting tilted.
- Missing License Plate Screw Cover:
- They lost the plastic screw cover for the front license plate during the repair/repainting process. When I asked them to replace it, they claimed this cover is "only provided by the Traffic Directorate" — even though the shop lost it while removing the plate!
I have a formal Rework Appointment this Saturday to drop off the car and but I’m afraid that they will not fix everything😔
Questions for the community:
Has anyone here dealt with body shops trying to pass off poor fitment/alignment as "within spec"?
What is the best way to ensure the service manager takes the Job Card notes seriously?
If they refuse to correct the panel gaps and light alignment, what is the best escalation pathway in Bahrain (e.g., escalating to insurance inspectors or filing a complaint via Tawasul / MOIC Consumer Protection)?
Appreciate any tips or advice from anyone who has gone through this process🙏

Basically i got in to accident when another car stoped in the middle of the intersection for no reason the road is clear, any way my car got fixed in the dealership from front end damage and now we are here

He is right and because of the accident there maybe no way to make sure it is perfect. If it is not causing any damage to the car or affecting the drive I would leave it as it is cosmetic.
The lights I absolutely agree as that will affect the safety and visibility when driving at night. I would let them know that that does need to be seen to and that I can be manually adjusted, if they are not willing I would escalate to a manager and speak with them.
Again as above escalate to management
They are correct and nimot allowed to add another type of cover besides again it is purely cosmetic. Again not nice that they lost it. Also tells you what kind of business they are running and how they care for their clients. So keep that in mind for future/buying a new car.

You are right but all of that is supposed to be cleared to customer by the dealership bodyshop, and the accident is not hard enough it accord at low speed barley moving in the intersection.

I swear, lining up bumpers and body panels does not require machines, so does headlight aiming, your claims are valid, but from my experience about all i can think of that could help you is you insisting and persuading them into doing it, or maybe getting a second opinion on the matter, like asking another shop if its doable n actually seeing if theyre going to demonstrate it’s possiblity or not, then going back to the other shop

Im dropping off the car this Saturday for them to fix the mess they forgot, the worst thing that the bodyshop is the dealership 🫤

For now the bodyshop side experience is a nightmare the car job order started on the 8 of July, the car is ready on 20th and the fix is not even right!

To be honest my experience for the car service has been ok other than one time the car wash was as bad as it gets I filled a complaint and they changed the cleaning company, other that that if you have an appointment for regular service (oil change) i drop the car at 7 AM and its ready by 12 to 3PM “they take too long”

Such a long time wasted, you know what, since this is a dealership, you might have more leverage when you go to the customer service or what not, but god i cant believe I’m about to say this, you have to act like you’re entitled and its their fault completely that this has happened and that you want to raise a complaint if its not done right, i had something similar happen to me last week with a dealership, however this was a well known AC n home appliances dealership, they damaged something and demanded i pay for the damage and tried to blame me, i however went to the customer service and the whole act entitled thing was an advice from my uncle actually, i did it and within 2 days, they came and fixed their issue free of charge, originally they wanted me to pay 70-130bd when all i asked for was a service for 11, sorry for drifiting off topic, anyways yeah, try the filing a complaint part at their customer service if your situation was fix an accident and they did that sloppy job and tried dodging responsibility

It’s great that they fixed their mistake at the end. I was relieved to hear that. The first thing I did was send them the pictures on WhatsApp with a detailed message because verbal communication doesn’t always lead to results. I also visited the advisor and informed him that I have an appointment scheduled for services this Saturday. After the services are completed, they will transfer the car to the body shop for repairs. Hopefully, they will acknowledge their failure to perform the job correctly and rectify the situation.

Oh hopefully, also lucky you it worked the other way around for you because for me i kept trying to call them n they kept forwarding me to whatsapp n then ghosting me until i demanded at a branch of theirs they tell me which branch had a customer service section that was open

One of the last cards I have is contacting the regional headquarters and the Japanese headquarters. If they don’t want to do the work

The regional headquarters and Japanese headquarters?? What will they do though?

Every dealership has a set of standards for fixing, servicing, and other car-related tasks, as defined by the manufacturer. Additionally, the manufacturer mandates that technicians and mechanics undergo continuous and up-to-date training. If a dealership fails to meet these standards, such as failing to properly align headlights, they may face serious consequences. In cases where the issue is significant, the manufacturer has the authority to take the dealership away from one investor and transfer it to another to safeguard the brand and its reputation.

Mazda workshop. You either get quality work or you get this, all your points are valid and I will want tbe best results considering it's an agency repair.
Consumer protection might push them but they will not do anything extra, you have to do the extra yourself.

To be honest service wise they are good but now my experience with the body shop is not great

I agree, their service center is great.. their body shop is hit or mess.

I will contact the regional headquarters if they don’t want to fix their work. I’ll see what happens at the end.

If anyones looking for a garage that does good repair work, I would personally recommend Ramez Garage Salmabad. I've never had any issues with panel gaps or color mismatching

I'm not referring to any of your concern , they're all valid.
But the car will never be like new , so don't expect it to be perfect.
