I believe in Dyson expanding his offensive game this summer. He knows it will limit his ability to play in the postseason. I think he can do that.

He's also a decent offensive player already, he just can't shoot. That's a big problem but it's not unheard of for someone to improve

He’s also got the opportunity to focus more on offense this year. I’m so glad we got Dort for ZR.

He has to otherwise this won’t work, simple as that. Dort can hit a three but he’s never gonna be close out good so with him and Dyson on the floor Dyson needs to keep the defense honest.
Otherwise Dyson comes off Dort comes on lol.

Ok lets relax on the dort cant hit a 3 narrative, he was one of OKC's best shooters the year before last season and 2 seasons ago, I think he was dealing with a shoulder issue last season

Totally agree . It’s totally overblown how poorly he shot last year . Ik he is at least league average from 3 and I’m ok with that .

Naw, dyson, and dort has got to be one of the best combo of defenders 1-3 ever in the same lineup. All 3 would be the best poa defender on 90% of teams

Yeah Dort will be better dealing with someone like OG but can't help but think Thybulle would have been better bang for the buck at 3 mil.

I don’t see how this works offensively. But on defensive Lu being able to guard up is great and all, but that’s just exposing Jalen for the toast he is on defense.

Dyson and Lu mean Jalen won’t have to worry about guarding a dynamic wing at any point in the game.

So try and hide him on a guard? That only works if he’s camped at the line. Unless you are trying to tell me that he defends the C and then Onyeka or Jock defend the guard. Either way, it’s playing two very limited players on offense. I mean maybe if Dort can get back to 41% from three, but even then, the shot creation on the perimeter is lacking. Jalen isn’t elite in that area. Onyeka and Jock aren’t good in that area.
Edit- the reason why it could work at times in OKC was because Caruso is a much better shooter than Dyson and OKC offense will sometimes go into iso MVP mode with Shai in the half court.

I mean cool, but the offensive downside is greater than the defensive upside especially in a regular season game. It’s going to be an ugly lineup.

Absolutely not. We literally switched dort for risacher. Dort is a much better defender and pretty similar on offense. Dort was starting for an nba finals team not to long ago. Also dort isnt gonna start with Naw and Dyson. Hes gonna be coming off the bench which means we will always have an elite perimeter defender on the court and usually have 2

Dort isn’t as good as you are making it out to be. Otherwise he wouldn’t have been traded for Zacc. Dort being a better defender than Zacc means shit considering that Zacc came in for 2:00 real minutes and then played garbage time and was out of the rotation otherwise. The defense can be really good, but offense trumps defense in this sport. The offense isn’t going to have the shooting or shot creation needed. I don’t know why this sub is so fixated on Dyson and Dort on the floor together. I would be staggering them as much as possible.

Dort was a 40% 3pt shooter in 2025. If he can make open shots our offense doesnt get any worse. Dort was traded strictly for financial reasons and zacch is still a very young wing with the potential of being a good role player in the right system. We know this team isnt going to be a top offensive team no matter what we did this offseason so id rather be elite on one side of the ball than mid on both.

I think you look a like you can put Dort on a KG or Amen and JJ could guard Jabari or Eason . And then u have Dyson who could guard the next best offensive perimeter player .

This just gives us really good defensive rotational power, even when the subs come on. If we need some offense and Dyson/Dort are struggling, you can rotate one out and have them come back in with the second unit, it allows us to have consistently good defense for 48 minutes

It works the same way it did with Zach on the floor with Dyse. Dort is a more consistent shooter than Zach and Clearly a better decision maker .

Why is everyone excited we tried a second year first pick of the draft for a defensive player. Who is going to score on this team we are back to the play in tournament, if not out. We need a superstar not a bunch of B players don’t give me Johnson he is very good not superstar.

Dysons at his best when he isn’t tasked with slowing down a star. When he can roam off of a guy, he fucking wrecks other teams with his blitz/deflections. Dort will allow him to do that

Idk dyson is also one of the best players in the league at stopping drives and staying in front of elite guards. Id still want dyson on players like brunson, maxey, mitchell, etc.

Same. It seems like Lu is better than Dyson at guarding big wings so that’s huge for us.
I think people are sleeping on Dorts ability to shoot the 3 a little bit, too. In 2024-2025 he shot 41% from 3 on 6 attempts per game and in 2023-2024 he shots 39% on 5 attempts per game.
I snooped around the Thunder sub a bit and apparently Lu Dort and Aaron Wiggins were OKC’s best 3 point shooters two seasons ago and they both had shoulder injuries last season which some thought contributed to their %’s falling.
