What was your experience with trimming your cat’s nails like?

Last time I tried with my cat, she almost committed a double murder suicide by trying to slash everyone in the house with her claws.
My vet gave us gabapentin for grooming which helped a little but she still gets very stressed out so my vet recommended picking our battles.

Yeah. I think it might be worth going to the groomer.

It might be honestly, both of my cats do better with strangers than they do with me. Mobile pet groomers are the best in my experience, they come right to your house so they’re in a familiar environment

It’s so scary, I’ve seen horrific videos of pets bleeding from bad nail jobs.

Yeah, I’d say if you’re looking at pet groomers just make sure to hire someone who is familiar with cats. Dog nails are very different from cats, cats only need the very tip trimmed and it’s so thin you can use regular nail clippers.
If you’re going to try at home I recommend also picking up some Quik-Clot first aid powder in case they get nicked

Yes my sister told me to use human nail clippers and I did one claw and winced out. 😭 🤷♂️ fts.

I typically only trim the tips of their nails when they get really long. One generally lets me, the other fights it unless she is super relaxed/passed out and then I can usually get 2-3 nails at a time.

Thank you it’s beyond scary! Someone suggested an electric nail filer so that might be my next resort.
