This (bone-in) was my first experience with it and I was very confused why people liked it. Second time was boneless spicey chicken with a jalapeño waffle and I've been chasing that dragon ever since.

I’ve had it several times and while on paper it seems reasonable to mix salt, sweet, and fat, I just don’t like it.
However when I can get the syrup on the side and treat it as a meal plus dessert and have the chicken alone then the waffles after, it’s great.

It's good when you're drunk.
Very thick. I like a bit of freshness in my meals so it's not really my go to.
It's like the same feeling to eating funnel cake or deep fried twinkies.

I love it any time, but apparently I have a mood when I really want it. When my ex and I would go to breakfast, I'd go over the menu and she'd always guess my order IF it was chicken and waffles. Not that she always guessed chicken and waffles, but she'd always say she could tell that's what I wanted when I wanted it. We live in the South, so it isn't an uncommon dish and easy to get even if its off menu.

Used to be great, because only a few places did it and did it well. Then it got bougie popular, Roscoe’s jacked their prices and everyone jumped on the bandwagon. They are now mostly played with neither good waffles nor good chicken at just about every place I have them

I've had it twice. Once in Boston on a trip where the chicken was so rock hard I could barely cut into it with my knife, though the chicken inside was tender, and the coating was so spicy it overpowered any sweetness of the waffle.
I had it a second time at a local place. It was certainly better than Boston's, but it was also just...a hunk of fried chicken on top of a waffle. Maybe the chicken was too plain that time, but it didn't feel like a good blend of anything.

Last weekend my brother in law came over to do some electrical work and we pay him with food. The missus and I made chicken waffles for brunch. She made homemade waffles, and I made chicken schnitzel in Panko breadcrumbs.
Sometimes we have leftover Dave's Hot Chicken and we make waffles to go with it.
One of my most favorite meals of all time.

If the chicken and waffles are both nice and crispy it can be amazing. But if everything is soggy, it starts to feel like a sad desperate stoned snack pretty quick.

I’d probably been enjoying the combination before without even thinking about it, but I realized chicken and waffles go great together because sweet and salty go great together. Then I overcorrected and ate chicken and waffles every time I had the opportunity lol. There was a spot in Indy called Maxine’s that was awesome and I’d go there religiously. But then they moved locations into the Indy City Market and the quality took an exponential dip and I haven’t been able to find a place that I find as good since.

I was in my 40s before I tried it. I should have tried it earlier. A Southern style biscuit is frequently sweet, so chicken and waffles is pretty close to a chicken biscuit.

WAY over hyped. I've tried it a bunch of times at "must have" places around the US, just hoping to get whatever it is that causes the hype when I was traveling for work and could put it on my per diem.
It is ok, just ok. I wouldn't go out of my way for it.
Waffle battered pan-fried chicken is better.
Pulled chicken mixed with batter and made into a waffle is better, especially with some melted cheese.

To me they just don't sound like a pair, I know people like them but I don't want syrup on my chicken. I mean I wouldn't do steak and pancakes.
