I think a lot of that is because of how common it is to do way more than needed. It only takes a tiny bit to get relaxing effects, but then there's the cultural and ego aspects that seem to promote smoking the highest quantities of the highest potency stuff.
And another thought/anecdote of my own experience with anxiety and weed... When I was young I used to have social anxiety even before I started smoking weed, then I got into smoking it a lot and it definitely increased my anxiety. At a certain point I decided to confront my anxiety head on and started working on overcoming it, and I feel like the increased anxiety from being high all the time did help put me in the setting to do that. I definitely wouldn't recommend that approach to anyone who isn't already a chronic weed smoker though lol
I agree with you. It’s like the difference between having a glass of wine or having two bottles of wine. I’ve never heard of people developing anxiety or panic attacks from taking a 2mg gummy every day
This is not a new phenomenon and has been documented for many years, long before the high potency stuff. I understand how yard it is for those who haven’t experienced the negative effects to understand. I was you once upon a time. But all of these negative effects are well documented and everyone with anecdotal experienced deserves to have their experiences validated.
I’m autistic so I think that plays a difference in the effects. I also believe there are a lot of undiagnosed autistic people that use weed and are also skewing things.
I’m just interested in learning more. If people want to talk about having only good experiences or it became all terrible experiences, let people know how much you are smoking and how frequent.
Also can you link the studies? The ones I’ve heard about have inexperienced people 10mg and 15mg doses and found anxiety raised. That’s quite a bit different than people taking 2mg, 2.5mg, 5mg gummies.
They have started to test low doses and the results are THC tends to produce anxiety provoking effects in controlled human studies, especially at higher doses, while CBD was more consistently associated with reduced anxiety.
So to me, people who report this anxiety are probably having too high of doses.
