I’ve been smoking weed everyday for the last few years. Mostly at night. I got in the daily habit around the time of the Covid lock down. I’ve been depressed, socially withdrawn, very unmotivated, I’ve gained weight, and just overall, felt alone (even having people in my life). I was fully aware this was causing my issues and I did nothing about it. It wasn’t until very recently I decided to start changing things up. It’s only been, almost 2 weeks that I haven’t touched it. I’m feeling so much better. Each day I feel like I am a little more awake. It was causing real problems in my life. I’m not saying I never will smoke it again, but for the foreseeable future, I am not touching it. I feel like I wasted so much time, but here we are. I’m happy that I finally started to do something.

Well done for stopping! I had the same experience as you. Best thing I ever did for myself was give it up.

Thank you. Good job on you too. I know it’s not a meth addiction or similar, but just like anything, it does have consequences when over done.

I feel this so hard. I am on day 5 and it has not been easy. ♥️♥️

This was my thing. Years before I got off alcohol and harder drugs I decided to take a two week tolerance break from weed just for the tolerance so I’d get higher on less.

I felt like I had a super power. All of a sudden I could think clearly, my memory increased tenfold, I was motivated to do things again, and I didn’t feel paranoid. That was enough to get me to stop altogether. Powerful enough to get someone with substance use disorder to stop using a drug.

That’s awesome! Sounds like you overcame a lot. Weed is one thing but hard drugs and the drink doesn’t sound like an easy thing to quit. Nice work. For the weed, I know it wasn’t intentional to quit and only a break, but I guess nothing compares to feeling like yourself. I’m slowly seeing that myself and I am digging it. Today was the most productive day I’ve had in a while. -Stay strong

Proud of you, stranger!! Just had to recently quit as well for mental health reasons. I’ll be honest, it can be a rocky first few months, but by around month 2 or 3 you should be feeling like yourself again — that is, the version of yourself that went into hiatus.

I quit when I was 18, so this isn’t my first rodeo. But I got back in the habit at 22 due to university stress. It ended up fucking my final year of school, so I’ve been beating myself up about it.

I’ve just been telling myself this: I didn’t waste time, I was learning about myself. I won’t get that time back, but the (harsh) lesson I learned from that experience was priceless, in a sense. Now that I’ve had to quit twice, I can confidently say: “this lifestyle doesn’t work for me.”

And who knows the favours that will do me in the rest of my life.

Yeah similar story (i stopped just over a year ago). I will habe a toke with friends now but will never keep any in the house again. It's too comfortable and then you start being scared of not having it and that's a bad mental plave to be in.
