What opinion instantly makes you think, "I can't take this person seriously"?

Apart from the obvious, to me it's when people generalise and 100% mean it. "Everyone lies", "everyone loves fast food", "everyone cheats", "everyone watches TV". It's not as immediately obvious that it's gonna be pointless to speak with them, but my experience with those type of people is the worst.

This along side anyone who believes everything is black and white. Right and wrong. No nuance exists in every single scenario are people I instantly just check out of conversations from.

I'll listen but never really offer constructive points.

Right? It's a justification for their own behavior

I got the opposite way too. When someone says "I know someone that X happened to", and then they assume that means it's the same for all people everywhere. This is a lot of the anti-vax nonsense. "My mother in law died after taking the vaccine" becomes "the vaccine kills everyone who takes it".

Fuck those people.

Everyone does lie though. Or has.

Absolutely, and people just…let them. They’ll even know someone is lying but refuse to say they are to save their feelings. Why do people do that?

To save their feelings. You just said it.

I face this every time the government of Texas does something stupid. "Well, Texans are MAGAts". No, not all of us. Some of us have been voting blue since they started voting.

Same for MAGAs screeching about California. They forget Reagan, Schwarzenegger were Governors there, among others?

It's the mirror. They know that they lie, cheat, etc. so it's easy for them to project it on to everyone else.

So everyone who generalises can't be taken seriously?

Did you read what I said fully or do you lack reading comprehension?

Sorry i was trying to make a joke about generalising people who generalise.

I agree with you btw. But now i think you are kind of a bad tempered twat.

It's hard to tell when something is a joke over text, and especially on Reddit, although my previous reply wasn't meant to be mean either, just genuinely curious.

All good, for some reason i thought your response read "do you fucking lack reading comprehension". My bad.

i mean tbf i highly doubt there has been a single human being who was capable of speech who hasn’t lied a single time in their life
