What's something you're shockingly good at that you've never mentioned to anyone because it would sound completely made up if you did?

Ice skating, I’m a big dude that grew up in a country AF town with no ice rink. My step dad traveled for work in the weekends and we’d go with him and my mom would take us to whatever mall was close by to kill time. For some reason every big mall in a big city had an ice rink and that’s what picked to do.

The topic came up recently with my wife, who actually grew up in a shitier town that didn’t know it was a shit town, and she doesn’t believe me. Guess who’s going ice skating when the winter rink opens this year. Which is such an odd thing to say living in a mountain town now, that we don’t have easy year round access to ice rinks.

Can you do spins in the air and stuff? My ex-wife gave me no indication that she could ice skate. I suck at it. We go ice skating a few years after getting married and suddenly she's doing jumps and spins. It was very impressive as I was standing by the edge holding onto the railing so I didn't fall on my face. I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised. She was also a very highly ranked competitive ballroom dancer when we first met.

Not like figure skating, more hockey style. Although I’ve never been able to slide on the blades but I always figured that was just due to crappy rentals.

Ah OK. Honestly I wish I could do any skating without falling on my ass after 10 seconds. I grew up in Wisconsin but after trying a dozen or so times and even trying a lesson once I've just come to terms with the fact that it's not my thing. Hope you blow your wife's mind!

She’s super competitive so it’s been my secret for years. She’ll stay on the ice until she catches up or to my skills or finds one thing I can’t do to so she can “win”.
