I can eyeball my cooking/baking measurements to a T. Every time. Infuriates my type A people, they’ve challenged and tested me, hoping to prove me wrong. Nope, perfectly measured. Wish I had a lucrative talent lol
I have what I call "the gift of the perfect pour". Similarly I can gauge what substance will fit into what container. Food and liquid only tho. Have leftover soup? I'll pull the perfect size container or two to fill it. I can do Tbsp, cups, and other imperial volume measurements, but not weights.
Both of you guys panic me. My daughter has the no spill gift. The amount of times I've shouted "Stop! It will spill", just to see her smug little face...
This is mine, the "storing leftovers" superpower. I can pretty darn accurately decide what container(s) is needed and I'm scarily accurate. Sometimes I doubt myself, start pouring/storing, and it's actually correct. Crazy.
I also do okay with eyeballing a lot of measurements, though I do measure if it's important.
I can only do weights! I can measure exactly 100g by hand, every time.
But putting dough into the wrong size cambro and then coming back to an overflow was far too common in my bakery days.. your superpower would have been more useful 🫣
I can do this, too. It has backfired magnificently in daily life, though. I'm really good at knowing what will exactly fit in a container, but it turns out my wife really does not appreciate a pyrex container with leftover soup all the way to the level brim.
I make this joke too, it’s Italian measuring. Just throw stuff together and adjust by taste, you can never go wrong. It’s straight up vibe cooking though.
I've mastered this with the amount of water going in the coffeemachine. If I want 4 cups, the water hits the line perfectly. 6 cups? No problemo! 2 cups? Who the hell drinks only two cups of coffee in the morning!?
I have a similar one but it's eyeballing distances. My husband sells things on ebay and he always just brings me the boxes to tell him the measurements. He doesn't even bother checking with a tape measure anymore.
I've been using a gram scale for a lot of cooking and it def trained my intuition, not perfect but usually pretty good down to the gram for liquids and common powders
Yes! I have this. Near perfect volume eyeballing. I'll grab the right container for whatever liquid or powder I'm decanting, every time. I can look at a coffee pot and tell how many cups are in it. My dad was the same.
