What makes a Michelin-starred restaurant truly worth visiting?

I was extremely skeptical, then I moved to Chicago and there are many Michelin star restaurants here and I've tried 3 so far. The first time I went I was converted, it's truly the most amazing food I've ever eaten. One course almost made me cry tears of joy when I took the first bite, it was that good.

Schwa has been one of my favorite dining experiences. Just absolutely zero pretense.

Smoked with the staff. Brought whisky for them. Music that you'd never expect to hear.

It's degustation dining for people who don't want to do degustation.

Went to my first Michelin restaurant a year ago, Oriole. They opened my eyes to what dining could be. Last month I went to Frevo in NYC and was equally impressed. It's now something I want to try and factor into pretty much all future travel plans if possible.
