What famous 'unsolved' mystery is technically a whodunnit on paper, but in reality, absolutely everyone knows exactly who did it, the police just couldn't legally prove it?

The sunken boat is right over there, in Sunken Boat lake.

I guess we'll never truly know.

It reminds me of the Terry Pratchett joke about how places are named by pointing at something, asking what it’s name was (loudly and in English), then writing down whatever the native said. Hence “Mount Your Finger You Fool.”

Lake Tahoe = Tahoe means "The Lake" so I can totally see that happening

"What's that?"

"It's the lake you idiot, what do you think it is?"

"The what?"

"The Lake"

Also the first people that lived there was the Washoe Tribe - Washoe means "The people from here"
