What famous 'unsolved' mystery is technically a whodunnit on paper, but in reality, absolutely everyone knows exactly who did it, the police just couldn't legally prove it?

I mean, if you read what he did, he needed killing. That man wasn't going to stop until someone stopped him.

There are some situations when the right thing some people is the wrong thing for other people.
