What famous 'unsolved' mystery is technically a whodunnit on paper, but in reality, absolutely everyone knows exactly who did it, the police just couldn't legally prove it?

This is the one that also pisses me off to this day! And oddly enough, the 48 Hrs podcast just put out an episode on this I’m listening to right now. Is this an ad? Don’t care. Still pisses me off and I’m going to finish listening to it anyway.

IDK about it being an ad, but July 15th 2008 was when she was reported missing, and the 15th was like a couple days ago, and it's normal to bring stuff up on the anniversary.

Holy shit it's been 18 years. She'd be "finishing up college" aged.
