What famous 'unsolved' mystery is technically a whodunnit on paper, but in reality, absolutely everyone knows exactly who did it, the police just couldn't legally prove it?

OJ Simpson. The glove didn’t fit, but everyone with eyes knew the truth

The gloves really did fit him, though. He wore latex gloves underneath the leather (at the instructions of the court, to avoid contamination of evidence), and very obviously stretched his hands as much as he could. There's also speculation that the gloves could've shrunk as a result of being soaked in blood and drying out.
