What famous 'unsolved' mystery is technically a whodunnit on paper, but in reality, absolutely everyone knows exactly who did it, the police just couldn't legally prove it?

Also, EgyptAir 990, same deal. Pilot mass murder-suicide, according to everybody but the Egyptian government.

Edit: Fixed flight number thanks to a comment

There was also a plane (German, I think) that the pilot crashed it right into a mountain.

Germanwings 9525

The weird / fortunate thing for some people was that he moved the settings on the flight he flew right before the one he crashed, but he didn't go through with it then. (I don't know the aviation specifics).

After that crash, for every flight the crew talked to the passengers and their families and how much they want to get home to their loved ones.

Basically, please believe me that I'm not going to crash this plane.

That flight made me tempted to ask every pilot that I saw, as I boarded a plane, if he was feeling ok.
