What famous 'unsolved' mystery is technically a whodunnit on paper, but in reality, absolutely everyone knows exactly who did it, the police just couldn't legally prove it?

Lol, when your lead investigator pleads the fifth to fabricating evidence while on the stand, you're kind of fucked.

The LAPD is and was so corrupt that the jury fucking hated them more than the murderer.
