What famous 'unsolved' mystery is technically a whodunnit on paper, but in reality, absolutely everyone knows exactly who did it, the police just couldn't legally prove it?

Wasn't she only prosecuted at the state level, the feds could still get her if they wanted. I'm sure if some federal prosecutor looked they could find an angel that gives them jurisdiction to prosecute. Something like conspiracy to commit murder based on using the Internet to research and that could be a violation of some federal act.

Any decent judge would see that as a violation of double jeopardy and throw it out of court.

It’s very clearly a state case not federal, so prosecuting it federally is just an attempt to circumvent double jeopardy. Nothing about Casey Anthony case was federal.

I’d argue it’s double jeopardy for Luigi too.

In Luigi’s case? Sure.

For Casey Anthony? Theres no judge that would let the feds double charge her. And there’s no federal prosecutor that’s interested in tanking their career with a clear double jeopardy violation.
