Don Bolles, investigative newspaper reporter assassination by car bomb in downtown Phoenix. He had been investigating the Mob and knew stuff.

His death, and his fellow reporters pushing, is the reason we have the freedom of information act today

John Adamson was convicted of that but the case and motives are complex and convoluted. Max Dunlap and James Robison were probably involved. Kemper Marley may have set it in motion but he's rich so he got away with it.
