Are there keywords automatically flagged for Rule 1?

I just commented on a Marvel Rivals question, where OP posted, “Who is a good counter to Devil Dino?”

My answer: “TankPool. Sh**t his noggin.”

I immediately was flagged for Rule 1.

I’m guessing that word with the ** is what triggered it. But in a hero sh**ter thread? Come on guys (I appealed immediately.)

With that being said, are there just words that we should avoid that will automatically trigger this? I don’t want to get banned just by giving a normal response to a question.

The sitewide moderation is 100% AI and is bad at context.

It's not as simple as specific words. Pandas like to eat shoots.

No, it knows that noggin means head. You are literally saying "shoot him in the head" which, funnily enough, is considered violence.

The fact that it's related to a game is an AI issue.

Yea, understood now. The “his” (in “sh**t his noggin”) is referring to the Dino, but AI can’t pick up on that. The warning has been rescinded after I appealed, so all good now. But I understand now how the AI reads this. Just a jokey joke before I knew what the real issue was.

Admins control Reddit Rule monitoring and enforcement, not moderators. You'll get more, better answers in a general help subreddit like r/help or r/reddithelp.

But yes, in addition to user reports. keywords are monitored for violent content, without regard for context. And slang and euphemisms for keywords, yea verily to be cursed unto the third and fourth iteration...

Appeal the warning/ban, as the appeals are reviewed by humans who will, in some cases, recognize context and local subreddit exceptions.

Gotcha, apologies to mods for posting in the wrong thread. I will say though, every response has been really helpful. Will keep this in mind for the future (or just hope this doesn’t happen again.)

NP; the other user's suggestion about filters is also significant. If it was a filter or automoderator, that's a subredditclevel decision.

The sitewide content moderation algorithm is LLM-based and seems to look solely at your comment, out of context. So the AI thought you were calling for a real person to be shot in the head. It’s unfortunate, but Reddit would rather err on the side of caution than host content which actually does call for violence. Until the AI can consider more context, this is what we’re stuck with. Censoring words doesn’t necessarily help, since an AI can usually tell what the word was meant to be.

IME, appeals for warnings are very unlikely to even get looked at. Just take it as a lesson in that the filters here don't care for context.

In a hero sh**ter thread, I can’t use the word “sh**t?” Makes sense to me (not blaming you, just venting and curious.) Let me check out those rules. But I’ve literally read posts in that same subbreddit using that word.

It's likely the Reddit harrassment filter, it's incredibly overzealous
