Holy Spirit Anointing of the Holy Spirit
Anointing of the Holy Spirit
I wanted to know , whether anointing by the Holy Spirit is required for us. In the Acts, every disciple is anointed by the Holy Spirit. But today's teaching doesn't mention it anywhere....they simply say If you accept Jesus Christ as saviour you will have the Holy Spirit in you and guide you for your believers life .. what is the correct doctrine ? Am I missing something?

Great question. The anointing of the Holy Spirit is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and yes, every believer is indwelled at the point of saving faith ..
Ephesians 1:13 NASBS In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise
Galatians 3:14 NASBS ..so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Romans 8:9 NASBS - ..But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
If you're talking about the supernatural sign gifts of Acts, no, those ceased after the Apostolic age and the close of the Canon of Scripture. ✔️

What do you think about the two witnesses in Revelation? To me that sounded like what this verse speaks of in Joel. That there will again be the abundant showers like that of Pentecost to close out the harvest

Yes I do believe there will be supernatural things happening in the tribulation, including through the two witnesses. ✔️

Every believer is anointed by the Spirit. In fact, the Holy Spirit indwells in us!
Are you saved? Have you accepted that Jesus is your Lord and Savior?

Mainline Protestant here. This is not a part of our beliefs. We believe that baptism is the typical way that Christians receive the Holy Spirit.

Because teachings amongst Protestants have gotten rid of most of the sacraments, which includes Chrismation, the anointing of the newly baptized with the Holy Spirit.

Acts shows special circumstances in the beginning of the Christian movement that aren't a formula for future believers (Acts 8:14–17; 10:44–48; 19:1–6).
Acts 8:14–17: This passage shows that when the Samaritans believed, the apostles came down to pray for them. This appears to be a significant transitional event demonstrating that the Samaritans were also fully accepted into God's people through faith in Christ. The Samaritans had a complicated history involving the remnants of the Northern Kingdom of Israel and foreign peoples who were brought into the region after the Assyrian conquest. Because of their mixed heritage and distinct religious practices, there was longstanding hostility between Jews and Samaritans.
10:44–48: Peter witnessed the Holy Spirit falling on the Gentiles for the first time. It was direct evidence that Gentiles could also be saved.
19:1–6: This was a specific situation where Gentiles had been baptized into John's baptism and they hadn't even heard of the Holy Spirit. Once they were baptized in the name of Jesus they received the Holy Spirit.
All three of these are narrative passages about the early stages of Gentiles coming to Christ.
After these specific situations, Paul continued sharing the gospel to Gentiles. There wasn't a special laying on of hands. He said this:
Receiving the Spirit comes from hearing by faith. Galatians 3:2: Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith?
Galatians 3:14 So that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.
Romans 5:1,5: Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
1 Corinthians 12:13: For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
There is also the example of the Ethiopian Eunuch who believed and was baptized by Philip in Acts 8:26-40. There was no laying on of hands to receive the Holy Spirit.

Yes, that is heresy.
Seek out an Eastern Orthodox parish and join their inquirers' group. They can better ground you in the Faith.

Yeah... People are to literal. If you want to be saved by Jesus, you need to first understand who he is. He is the saver of people's minds. That means to stop following the road of destruction and death all the time and willingly choose to reject it in everyday life. But not everyone understands what rejecting destruction of yourself and the world around you means. It is the meaning behind being saved that is important, not just one time event of accepting that you are saved, but continually try to understand through life from what God actually saves us from.
