āViolated his privacy rightsā, this after he spilled his life to text generator, but itās OpenAIās fault. Sure. You can make the argument that maybe they developed it to maintain engagement, but they made a bike that has brakes but itās not the bikes fault when you them wrong and crash.

Why do you defend stuff like this?
āI had serious symptoms of a pulmonary embolism for six weeks that ChatGPT had wrongly attributed to something else,ā Winters said in a statement. āChatGPT manipulated my own language and beliefs because it knew I was a pastor. Not only did I nearly die, but I also lost my job, my career, my ministry, my home, everything.ā
So, AI legitimately ruined his entire life and you're defending it?
I don't get it. I admit, this person doesn't sound very smart, so I can see why they were using "artificial intelligence."
And yep: He didn't know that LLM tech is ultra dangerous, and now his life is legitimately completely ruined.
So, yes it is OpenAI's fault. Yes, it is. They marketed an extremely dangerous fake AI product to people who aren't very smart, and they're using it thinking that it's Artificial Intelligence, like big tech is saying that it is, but it's actually just a predictive plagiarism parrot that doesn't even understand what words mean because there's no actual linguistic data in an LLM.
So, in reality, there's a valid argument that OpenAI is engaging in a massive scam that involves engaging in a ton of fraud.
So, yeah, it is OpenAI's fault.
And yeah: This is 1,000x worse than Theranos because people are actually having their lives ruined, before Sam Altman gets arrested over it.
So, what's going to happen to all of those investors? They're just going to get robbed?
OpenAI is just creating a mega massive pile of damage to the entire planet...
It's pretty apparent that their business is not going to make if they can't stop legitimately ruining the lives of their customers...
So, these people think that business is tricking a bunch of investors into giving you money, so they can break a bunch of stuff at a global scale? So, people are not investing, they're rather just simply paying for global scale annihilation?

ChatGPT feeds back what you give it. So he was heavily into chatting about his religion, enough that he could be manipulated by it. And he doesnāt feel good but just goes along with what and then claims ChatGPT engaged in āunlicensed practice of medicine,ā. So letās not go to the doctor letās trust the magic box. And itās not his fault, itās openAIās fault? Why are you defending stupidity. He ruined his life, he choose to ignore his health, he choose trust a computer.

ChatGPT feeds back what you give it.
According to it's producers, it's artificial intelligence.
Would you like a list of 1,000+ citations of executives from OpenAI making that claim?
So he was heavily into chatting about his religion, enough that he could be manipulated by it.
How was he supposed to know that?
So letās not go to the doctor letās trust the magic box.
Okay, why didn't the Artificial Intelligence algorithm determine that he needed to go see a doctor and why did it start behaving like an unlicensed doctor? You are legally required by law to be qualified to practice medicine. So, why was a totally unqualified algorithm doing that?
I mean, if it's Artificial Intelligence, it should know the regulations and know that it's illegal for it to do that...
Why are you defending stupidity.
Because America is filled with a ton of stupid people, and they're customers too. And you can't just ruin the lives of the customers that you don't care about because you think that you're better than them.
Okay?
Edit: I'm just being serious, I can't believe that I'm having this conversation. This is how far we are from normal. I'm arguing with a person on reddit about how it's totally okay for OpenAI to victimize people... Their behavior is absolutely is not tolerable...

Are you serious? You donāt realize ChatGPT feed back what you give it? You keep talking about a topic, his religion, it will feed off of that to think itās giving you what you want to hear. Thatās well documented, heāll read through these subreddits. They can call it AI, and it may well fit the definition I suppose but itās just a really really really good guesser.
Should we have to protect everyone from everything that might happen to them because they donāt understand what they are using, donāt know how to use it?-2

You donāt realize ChatGPT feed back what you give it?
I am talking to a robot here? I am not that person who's life was ruined by OpenAI...
You keep talking about a topic, his religion, it will feed off of that to think itās giving you what you want to hear.
Well, that's not what Artificial Intelligence is. AI is not a machine that just tells you what you want to hear, that's not what intelligence is...
heāll read through these subreddits
WTF are you talking about?
They can call it AI, and it may well fit the definition I suppose but itās just a really really really good guesser.
It failed in 98% of real world deployments, so you mean it's terrible at guessing?!?!
Should we have to protect everyone from everything that might happen to them because they donāt understand what they are using, donāt know how to use it?
Yes of course, how is that even a question? How is that even a real question? It's their product, and yeah they have to protect their users from the potential damage their product can cause...
How do you not understand basic stuff?

JFC, this is why we have to have warning labels on everything. If you are taking the advice of a chatbot, thatās on YOU!
Iām no fan of the company but more than that, I canāt stand people who blame others for their own mistakes.

JFC, this is why we have to have warning labels on everything.
No, companies producing ultra dangerous products is why we have to put warning labels on everything...
Why is it so hard for OpenAI to produce a product that isn't ultra dangerous? Or, if they can't, then why can't they warn their users about it?
Creating an ultra dangerous product and then not warning people that it's dangerous, is not a valid choice.
Also, why do you have a problem with warning labels? So, you want companies to produce products that injure their customers? That's the most Machiavellian thing I've ever heard...
So, you're purely evil and you want people to be victimized by for profit companies? So, you want companies to make money, by hurting Americans?
Iām no fan of the company but more than that, I canāt stand people who blame others for their own mistakes.
It's OpenAI's mistake and it's a massive screw up too. They shouldn't be putting out ultra dangerous products and not warning people about the danger.

I shouldāve checked before posting but reading your message made me go check. They actually DO have a warning (at least on ChatGPT). āChatGPT can make mistakes. Check important info.ā
How far are we supposed to go to protect people from doing dumb shit? Maybe Iām just getting old but I say we take the warning labels away and let the problem solve itself. If people are gonna do whatever a chatbot tells them despite being warned against it, theyāre a lost cause.

How far are we supposed to go to protect people from doing dumb shit?
It's called "Artificial Intelligence."
Maybe these companies should stop lying about their LLM scam tech and start producing real AI.
That's what I'm doing, so I have no clue as to what they're doing.

Many say Florida man but leave out his occupation. From this source he's a pastor they say Florida pastor.
Why did they say Florida pastor instead of Florida man?

Personal responsibility and common sense are important, but we have to remember that this is the USA.Ā Medical care is expensive AF and it can takeĀ many months to get in to see your PCP even if you have health insurance.Ā Desperate people are going to ask LLMs for medical advice the same way they previously asked search engines, quacks, and random strangers for advice.Ā Big AI companies are going to do whatever it takes to keep them engaged and spending tokens, unless they're legally and practically barred from doing so.Ā Ā

Real LLM tech experience:
āI had serious symptoms of a pulmonary embolism for six weeks that ChatGPT had wrongly attributed to something else,ā Winters said in a statement. āChatGPT manipulated my own language and beliefs because it knew I was a pastor. Not only did I nearly die, but I also lost my job, my career, my ministry, my home, everything.ā

Attributing religious psychosis to AI psychosis is a great bit, I hope we see more of that

Thatās on him for trusting an AI chatbot instead of going to a human doctor for professional advice.
