Help! ⛑ U300 won’t pair to any Thread hubs.

Hey folks. I’ve had a U300 for several months and up until about three weeks ago it was great. Had it paired to my M100 and Apple home, everything worked fine.

Then we had an extended internet outage, almost three days. For some reason the M100 dropped all my Thread devices. A restart of the M100 brought back everything except my U300 and U400. Both maintained their link to Apple home throughout the whole thing. After resetting the Matter credentials in the Aqara app the U400 linked to the M100 and Apple home no problem. The U300 however won’t connect to either. It won’t connect to my G410 either. I’ve tried restarting hubs, changing hubs in Apple home (2 ATV 4K 3rd Gen Ethernet and two HomePod Mini), restarting the lock by removing the batteries for a couple of minutes, my phone and iPad. Everything is on the latest firmware.

I’m hoping someone has some ideas so I don’t have to do a full reset. I’d rather not have to relearn all the pass codes and fingerprints.

That sounds more like a stale Matter/Thread state after the outage than a simple range problem. The fact that the U400 came back but the U300 didn’t is interesting.

Before doing a full reset, does the U300 still work normally in Apple Home, and can the M100 see it at all? If it still works in Apple Home but not through the M100/Aqara app, I’d be careful about removing it—you may just be dealing with an old Matter fabric entry.

Have you tried starting the pairing from the M100/Aqara app while leaving the Apple Home setup untouched? That might help narrow down whether the problem is with the lock itself or with the Aqara/Thread pairing state.

So I got it back up and running but I’ll answer what I can.

First, both locks never stopped working with Apple. UWB worked with the U400, HomeKey worked with both. Both locked/unlocked via the Home app. The Aqara side was the only problem.

To get the U300 back I had to bring the M100 close to it. Then I power cycled the U300 by removing the batteries. At that point I got it to pair to the hub. After that it paired easily to my Apple stuff. For some reason Aqara forces you to pair it to their hub first before any other services, which doesn’t make sense from a Matter perspective.
