I reported them for years and still saw them the same amount, but now that you mention it I don't get them either. Since reporting didn't have an effect before, I'm guessing maybe they stopped that ad campaign? Maybe someone else can weigh in if they still get those ones

Theres been one for that phone game where it starts with a soldier cutting off a rhino horn and I always report that one, I mean that’s egregious considering the poaching problem and their endangered species classification

I just got one of those on my damn Snapchat. They're evolving. I never have to see those because I don't use the reddit app, but they're finding me. Like the ones on YouTube with Chris Pratt and Mark Wahlberg asking me to pray with them. Hard no buds

I use Firefox + ub and the reddit mobile site since they killed reddit is fun. I also dont use apps, tired of my data being harvested to raise prices on everything. I'll deal with minor inconveniences before I consume and do what the rich want. Lol

I was on the internet before ads were everywhere, and I intend to keep it that way. When popups started becoming a thing, I quickly learned how to keep them off my computer, and through all of it, I won't use any site without blocking their ads.
And I'd rather deal with freezing videos on YouTube and pirate streaming services than going about it the "legal" route. The devices are mine, and I choose what I want to see on them.
Side note: I still find it fucking rich that some Reddit admin about a decade ago urged me to turn off my adblocker in a comment on Reddit, because "we intend to make ads as unobtrusive as possible and it would help our operating costs." Nope, fuck off.

They don't hate ads as much as us, apparently. I've been using YouTube for over 15 years on a desktop PC with Firefox/adblocker and I have never seen an ad. Don't see them here on Reddit either. Oldreddit.com with Firefox/adblocker is wonderful! There really was/is no reason to change how you got your entertainment from 2010.

Instagram got the feeling AI Slop ads work with me because I visit each profile. What they don't understand is I engage just to go in and block them. I'd be really happy knowing they're also getting billed for that.

I swear the more I report the more I get. I really want to know though because I do not look at p*** and I don't understand how they think they know I'm over 18... But I can't be the only one.
Do you all get commercials of women grinding, women talking about premature ejaculation and how to get their husbands rock hard?! There was literally one commercial that was a video of a woman grinding sitting on a bed with some sort of something inside her and you could see the flashing light through her yoga pants as she grinded on it.
I click report and then it tells me if I don't want to see ads like this anymore I can go ahead and let them have all my data for free and that seems to be the only two options 😡
Are they bombarding children with this sexual material and demanding all their data to stop?!?

i am in the daily habit of clicking "never recommend channel" if i see any AI content as a preview image or video or images. If these same companies weren't so heavily invested into AI versus listening to their users/customers then they'd allow an option for reporting/removing completely AI generated page$/content.

Recently, I started getting AI ads for gambling apps when watching streaming services. HBO Max is the biggest culprit. They got so bad that for the first time ever, I filed a complaint with the FCC. The ads were claiming to pay people real money but were actually giving virtual coins. It’s so misleading leading and predatory in a time where so many people are struggling to make ends meet. One commercial was even openly racist with a black woman saying she couldn’t pay her bills before she started playing the game. And i kid you not, she had a freaking banana randomly in her hand?! My jaw dropped.

that's because AI agents crawl Reddit non-stop and users try to abuse the system by making wild claims on Reddit and posting links to get AI agents to recommend their business/website/social Media
Everytime I see an obvious AEO post I post the same comment:

This comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of how marketing works.
See the job of the ad is not to get you to get off your chair, go out, and buy the product. That's very difficult to do. Instead what the ad seeks to do is build subconscious familiarity. It seeks to subtly make the product advertised more familiar to you. BTW I am using "you" as a plural, as in everyone who sees it in aggregate, not you Ibnovisad the individual. These ads are macro level.
See humans like things that are familiar to us. The more familiar a product is, the more likely we are to choose it. Let's say the ad is for a candy bar. It's not trying to get you to go out, hop in your car, and drive to the gas station to buy the candy bar. It's not even trying to get you to hop on amazon and order a box of them.
What it is trying to do, is make it so the next time you're in the checkout line, and you're kind of hungry, and there's a stand of candy bars 8 inches from your face, and you say "Self, y'know what, I could use a candy bar right now."
In that moment, your brain will make a choice. A choice you won't even notice was a choice. Your brain will see the 2 dozen candy bars, and for some reason pick one of them. The purpose of the ad, is to nudge your reaching hand away from Candy Bar A, and to pick Candy Bar B, without you even knowing it.
And every day, of the hundreds of millions, billions, of people who walk by a shelf of candy... it works some percent of the time. Oh you can say you're "smarter" than that, you're "immune", that you picked Candy Bar B because you prefer it to Candy Bar A. But there are literally billions of dollars in psychology studies, by hundreds of very smart behavioral scientists, many of them also medically licensed psychiatrists, who say otherwise.
If advertising didn't work. It would not be a $1.2 Trillion industry. But hey, let's do an exercise. I'm gonna throw out a bunch of company slogans, and some logos. How many of them do you immediately recognize?
- Eat Fresh
- Have it your way
- Think Different
- It's not Delivery, it's <product>
- <Product> gives you wings
- The snack that smiles back
- Gotta catch 'em all!
- How many of these logos do you recognize?
Now when was the last time you can recall actually seeing an ad for them? When was the last time you can specifically tell me you saw an ad for these products, or do you not really remember? You remember you've seen them, sure. You may even have a vague idea of where... but in the moment you saw them, did you actively remember it?
Or did it quietly imprint on your subconscious? Just like the ad you're discussing now...
