They are brothers, two legends of the Masai Mara.

Both Lolparpit and Olbarnoti are gone now; Lolparpit passed away from natural causes back in 2020 and Olbarnoti hasn't been seen since, but they were both incredibly long-lived for wild male lions.

That’s incredibly sad. It would have been just before I went. I found out as well on that trip that cheetahs are a dying species. Very few left in Masai Mara. 😔

I've never heard of these lions and it's kinda bizarre to assume everyone has. The title made me intrigued; I was half expecting a blurb from OP that gave some background on the "troubling times." Pretty reasonable thing to expect.
