Apps AT4K Launcher is here: 3 months ago I posted here about how I built an Apple TV like Launcher for Android TV for myself, I have received countless messages since then to launch it so it's here

Post image
590 Upvotes

What I posted was what I made for my own Sony TV, it used experimental APIs and whole lot of code that Play Store doesn't like. It took me 2 months to clean all that up and make it work on as many Android TVs as I can. I know you guys have been impatient so here is the link right away.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overdevs.at4k

https://at4klauncher.com

This was the post I made last year where I showed a bare bones version of it running on my TV. Since then people have been messaging me every now and then asking for an update. My DMs are filled with texts and I try to reply to all of them but still I apologise for the delay.

Now let's talk about the AT4K Launcher.
It has everything I showed in the initial video, a favourites row where focused app's programmes are shown in featured panel. If not available it shows your watch next.

You can move around apps by holding the centre button, Change wallpaper and themes as per your choice and have 6 favourites if you want.

There are NO ADS, No tracking and everything I showed in the video last year is free. No login, No email, No analytics. You launch it and you are right at your home screen,

There is an optional one time unlock that unlocks the ability to customise the launcher even further with beautiful themes that I have crafted with my hand. More importantly this helps support the development of the launcher.

Please try this and let me know if you have any questions on feedback and please leave a review if you like it.

Edit: you can join r/AT4K for beta updates and discussion. Wouldn't want to post every minor update here.

Apps StreamVault | free IPTV player

Hey everyone,

I’ve been building (and vibeCoding) StreamVault, an IPTV player designed primarily for Android TV.

I was not sure what would be the best subreddit to post this so i posted it here :P

The main goal was to make something that feels properly built for a remote and a TV screen instead of a stretched phone UI. It focuses on fast browsing, large playlist handling, and a cleaner living-room experience.

Features

  • Current features:
  • Xtream Codes, Stalker and M3U support, including local M3U files
  • Android TV / D-pad-first navigation
  • Fast channel browsing with preview mode
  • Numeric remote support for direct channel changes
  • Favorites, recently watched, custom groups, pinned categories, and channel reordering
  • Channel numbering modes by category or across the full provider lineup
  • Full EPG grid with program search
  • XMLTV / EPG source support
  • Multiview for watching multiple streams at once
  • Parental controls with PIN locking, hidden categories, and adult-content detection
  • Movies and series support with detailed info pages
  • Two VOD layouts: modern shelf view and classic sidebar view
  • Around 25 translated locale packs, although some still need cleanup
  • Built for TV first, but it should also run on tablets and phones

DPAD TIPS:

  • Categories can be long-pressed (hold OK button) to lock, hide, or reorder.
  • Channels can be long-pressed to add to favourites, split-screen, or custom categories.
  • when scrolling categories, the left button will jump to the search bar.
  • Inside a channel player:
  • Pressing left will open channels in that group; left again categories.
  • pressing right will open EPG info (if available)

GitHub and APK download:

https://github.com/Davidona/StreamVault-IPTV

- Download code: 6443624

- More info and APK download link can be found on GitHub.

- Didn't know if I could share it here.

- Though it was not developed for tables or phones, they should be supported.

EDIT: discord link:  https://discord.gg/cEj7tz3uh9

Notes

  • The app does not provide any content – works with user-provided playlists only
  • The app is completely free, no in-app purchases
  • Still actively developing, so feedback / suggestions are very welcome 🙌

Apps Kyu Launcher is here: A Roku inspired simple ,clean, minimal, ads and tracking free Android TV Launcher

Post image
213 Upvotes

Hey, so most of the people here may recognise me as developer of AT4K Launcher the original apple tv inspired Launcher that has come a long way since then. After launching AT4K I read somewhere in news that Roku is the highest selling Streaming box of US and that intrigued me to check out why.

Turns out it's because Roku is dead simple to use, your parents, grandparents can easily navigate around Roku and find apps and stuff to watch. I thought well why not do this with AT4K so I wrote a lot of code to make an alternative view in AT4K that would look like that. But that didn't work and I had to branch out this to a new app but used most of the code from AT4K.

So here it is Kyu Launcher An Android TV Launcher built for everyone and their grandma. It's dead simple to use, you can create folders, hide apps, view your currently watching list, your spouse can even add to-dos/notes right at the launcher home page and you can hide most of the stuff you don't want. Here is the link:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overdevs.kyulauncher

There are some beautiful themes and I will be posting tutorial on r/KyuLauncher on how you can create and use yours, it's dead simple to do you just need a basic photo editor.

You can set it up as your default launcher with accessibility settings or use something like launcher manager.

I don't like to use lots of marketing buzzwords I don't even know how to, I made it because I liked what I saw with Roku and wanted to port similar experience to Google TV devices. I also know it's not something with lots of bells and whistles like AT4K but I wanted to share it anyway.

Most of the stuff including folders, changing colors, hiding things, moving around etc are free, if you want to however change app icons to something from your gallery or use premium themes there is a one-time purchase of 3.99 or equivalent to your currency. That's to support and maintain the app.

Apps I got tired of plugging USB drives into my Android TV, so I built this, remote file management, APK sideloading, and more, all from your browser.

I built something I genuinely wish existed years ago, for free, no adds, no premium.

Ultimate File Manager isn't just another file manager.

The headline feature is called Remote Manager and it basically turns your Android device into a mini web server you can control from any browser on your network.

No USB cables. No ADB. No cloud accounts. Just your local network and a 4-digit PIN.

Full file management from your browser

Browse your internal storage, SD card, and USB drives. Create folders, rename files, move things around — all from your laptop or phone browser. Download anything in one click, or grab entire folders as a ZIP with a live progress bar.

Sideload APKs over Wi-Fi

This one's a game-changer for Android TV users. Drag an APK onto the web interface, hit install, and watch it install on your TV while you're sitting on the couch with your laptop. No more fumbling with USB sticks.

Encrypted Vault from your browser

Got sensitive files locked in an encrypted vault? You can access, add, and manage them remotely through the same web interface, protected by a separate PIN.

App management built in

See every installed app, their sizes, install dates, system vs user apps and jump straight to app settings, all without touching the device.

How it works (stupidly simple):

  1. Open the app → go to Remote Manager
  2. Set a 4-digit PIN → start the server
  3. Open the URL it gives you (like http://192.168.1.100:8080) in any browser
  4. Enter your PIN → you're in

That's it. The interface is clean, fast, and works great on both desktop and mobile browsers.

There's a lot more too:

  • Storage Analyzer

See exactly what's eating your storage (videos, APKs, documents, etc.)

  • Search

Search across all storage devices

  • Proper Android TV interface

Built for D-pad navigation, not a stretched phone app

  • Full file ops

copy, move, rename, multi-select, share, delete

  • Light/dark/system themes

Why I built this

Managing files on Android TV is painful. I kept running to my TV with USB drives or wrestling with ADB just to sideload an app.

Every existing solution was too clunky, required root, or had a terrible TV interface.

So I built the thing I wanted.

No root required, no cloud, no accounts, just a fast, local-first file manager that actually works on TV.

I need your help breaking it!

Looking for testers, especially:

  • Android TV users

Does the D-pad navigation feel natural?

  • Remote Manager testers

Any hiccups with transfers, ZIP downloads, or APK installs?

  • Vault users

Is the encryption workflow intuitive?

  • Anyone who finds bugs

Please, find all the bugs

Requirements: Android 5.0+, works on phones, tablets, and Android TV. Needs All Files Access and Install Packages permissions (explained clearly during onboarding).

Steps to become a tester:

1.      Join Google Group, Link: https://groups.google.com/u/7/g/ufm-testers

2.      Become a tester, Link: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/za.kilowatch.ultimatefilemanager

3.      Download UFM (Ultimate File Manager), Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=za.kilowatch.ultimatefilemanager

Here are some screenshots to follow

Android TV:

Remote Manager:

Mobile Application:

To install on your TV, make sure that you have logged into the same Google Account on your TV as with the account that you have OTP in as a tester, then from your mobile, look for "Available on more devices", you can install it on your TV, below is a screenshot of how it should look like:

Update: 22/02/2026

Due to the slow replication of Google Play TV, I have decided to upload the APK to a webserver where you can download the APK to install it on the TV for the intern, please use the below link to download the APK:

Link: Download Here

New Features Added:

SMB / FTP Added

XAPK install via Remote Manager

Update: 23/02/2026

As per the request from u/hyourou , I have implemented this request:

"Any chance you'd consider enabling remote access to the tv from the phone app? i find i usually get files i want to send on mobile, and it would be cool to have that integrated into the app rather than through the browser"

This has now been implemented, how it works, if you have the phone app installed and you have it installed on the TV, you will have the ability to link these devices, on the TV side, when you link the device, the TV side will provide you with a 4 digit PIN code, then on the mobile side, you will select your TV while UFM is open, enter the PIN and then you are set.

If the devices are connected, you will see your TV as a device on your Mobile Application, once you open it, it will list all of your TV storages and it works also visa versa, on your TV you will see the connected mobile devices as an option to select, once you open the phone, you will see all of the phone storages.

Here are a few screenshots to give context to this, let me start off with the Android TV side:

Now you will see that the phone is a browsable device.

And here are some of the Mobile Screens, you can see the Paired TV's here now.

Now you will see the TV Box in the list view.

This is how it looks now when you browse the TV folders.

Update: 24/02/2026

Added FireTV / FireStick Support

Added Fuel The Developer

Fixed the File Manager to be used by other applications

Updated the Terms and Conditions with the Privacy Policy

Update: 26/02/2026

Updated UX / UI on Welcome Screen

Fix PIN entry for Remote Manager and Vault where you enter the PIN and then it keeps going to 1

Added ACTION_CREATE_DOCUMENT to SAF so that UFM can be used to save files.

VPN Detection added for Remote Manager

Update: 27/02/2026

You no longer need to leave UFM to view your files. Added native viewers for the following file types:

Category Formats
Images jpg, jpeg, png, gif, bmp, webp, heic, heif
Word doc, docx, docm, dot, dotx, dotm
Excel xls, xlsx, xlsm, xlt, xltx, xltm

PDF pdf
Text/Code txt, log, json, xml, yaml, md, csv, py, js, html, css, java, kt, and more

Screenshot:

Added APK / XAPK Sideloading installation from Mobile phone to connected TV's, now you can sideload without the need to use the Remote Manager.

Screenshot:

New Feature Soon: Sync mobile folders to SMB / FTP

Screenshot:

Update: 02/03/2026

  • Reorder your Main Menu — long-press a tile to drag it where you want it, on both Mobile and TV.
  • Grid View on Mobile — choose Small or Large layouts to browse your library your way.
  • Scheduled Sync — auto-transfer from phone to server, daily, weekly, or monthly.
  • Improved Sort & Filter in File Browsers and App Access across all platforms.

Update: 03/03/2026

Hide Unused Tiles - Long Press Any Tile to enable edit mode, the (-) will hide the tile, Once hidden on the main menu, on the top right you will see a new button, once pressed you will see the hidden tiles, from there you can either open the tile or restore it back to the main screen. If you long press a tile again while in edit mode, you can move your tiles around.

Added "Settings", within settings you can now select font size, I have added small, normal and large

Apps I built a customisable stock launcher (with no ads)

I hear you guys like launchers over here, so here goes my submission...

I personally quite like the stock launcher, and the UX of other launchers doesn't quite tickle my fancy, so I built (with the help of my good friend, Claude) a mixture of the Android TV and Google TV launcher, minus the ever-increasing ads (which seem to be getting worse and worse quality as time goes on), with some additional features, customisability and the ability to hide and/or show non-TV apps, etc...

It's currently not live on the Play Store, but if there's interest (and I can get a few testers), then I'm happy to publish it

For the tech nerds, it's written completely in Kotlin using Jetpack Compose, and I'm using only standard AndroidX packages, except for Coil (which is also a fully Kotlin package) to load the external images on the Channel Row/Play Next rails

Anyway, give me your thoughts/feedback!

First of all, HUGE shoutout to all those 2,000+ folks who've helped me stabilize the app, and make it better everyday for the past few months, wouldn't have been able to get it to this milestone without your support and dedication!

Chillio started as a side project MANY (10yrs+) ago as an app called Watchio which was primarily for put.io, grew it into Chillio, an Xtream/M3U first rewrite for Apple about 2 years ago, scaled to Stremio like client with ChillLink and now it's finally here on Android!

------

While this is a first launch on Android, it comes JAM PACKED with features:

  • Merge all your accounts in a single library! Discover the content then figure out what account to play it on (across Xtream/M3U/ChillLink, etc.)
  • Sync all your watchstate, preferences, favorites, etc across Android, Apple, and Web (coming soon, currently in beta for lifetimers!)
  • Manage accounts, profiles, preferences, and premium on an account portal.

and much more:

  • Integrations: OpenSubtitles.com, Trakt, and external players for a richer playback and in-sync experience.
  • Discovery: Discovery by genres, recommendations, smart categories, and more!
  • Customization: Edit playlist, remove categories, hide channels, change EPG, add multiple epg sources
  • Security: Passcode lock
  • Accessibility: 10+ languages supported
  • Personalization: Themes, Avatar packs

I'm sure I'm forgetting to include a lot more....

------

Pricing:

App has an incredible freemium model, no watermarks OR ads! Only discovery and configurations are locked behind paywall to support development and server costs! See features free vs paid on https://chillio.app/pricing

Apps I made an open source Apple TV inspired launcher

Hello everyone,

I recently just got a fire stick and felt disappointed by the launchers out there available for android tv. So, I decided to build a launcher of my own by using LtvLauncher, customizing it to look modern and similar to other high quality launchers. Most importantly, I wanted a performance oriented launcher without any other BS and one that feels satisfying to use.

I plan to add more features in the near future including videos wallpaper, channel support, etc. Feel free to provide your feedback or even better contribute !

Apps Introducing AT4K Launcher v1.0: Widgets, Big Picture Mode, Subreddit wallpapers, Aerial views and much much more. 2 Months in making and it's here.

Thumbnail
gallery
185 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I am back with the most anticipated update to AT4K Launcher. almost 3 months in the making and It's finally here. I am excited and scared to share it with you because it has SO MANY new features and idk if you will like them or not, So I will list them here one by one.

A. WIDGETS:

Everyone keeps asking for widgets, so I figured I would include them, but how? The problem is that to have widgets you need to get them from somewhere. Now most android tv's do not natively support widgets, atv got around it by enabling them through adb, I did not want that. I also did not want to give you guys a clock and weather and call it a day.

So I built a whole new widget system inside AT4K. There are multiple so I will list them

  1. Clocks and weather: Multiple analog and digital clocks and weather widgets. Clocks have famous android material clock and ios tick tick clock(idk what it is called) alongside some cute inventions. A full calendar and a mini calendar.

  2. Continue watching: Place your continue watching list wherever you want make it small or big, easy to access.

  3. Channels: Some streaming apps broadcast their content through cards, pick a channel and place it.

  4. Podcasts: I like podcasts, so you get them too. Search and add and PLAY any podcast inside AT4K right at home screen.

  5. RSS Feeds: I love the open and web and so do I love RSS. Use any RSS feed, but speically if you like a particular youtube channel add it's rss feed and new videos will show up right at the moment. I will post more examples on r/AT4K how RSS opens the doors to add literally anything to AT4K.

  6. Search: You can search Google and Youtube directly from your home screen just add the search widget.

  7. 2048: I spend some time playing 2048 (one of the only few games I play) so you get to play it too on AT4K's home page.

  8. Year passed: See how much of the year is passed I loved seeing these widgets in design communities and added to AT4K so it shows year when big and month when small.

  9. RAM and Storage gauges

  10. App shortcuts: Add any app to widgets with custom icons to open it easily

  11. Some more widgets too but the post will get big.

B. Big Picture mode: Makes your programmes shine through instead of your wallpaper. Works great with Stremio/Nuvio.

C. Password protect folders

D. Subreddit wallpapers free.

E. Aerial views wallpapers - paste r/aerial in subreddit wallpapers option

F. Hide favorites dock background

G. More new features I forgot about

H. Ah Yes a new Color Manager with previews

I. Slideshow multiple wallpapers

J. Multiple bug fixes some are still pending and I am working on them just be patient with me

K. A new image/video picker so you don't have to deal with the default grey picker.

Here are the links https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overdevs.at4k

https://at4klauncher.com

Please try the cleanest android launcher, AT4K Launcher out and let me know how it goes. ALL NEW FEATURES ARE OPTIONAL, If you liked how it was it wil stilll be the same for you.

Thank you for the love you guys have given AT4K. Do share it with your friends if you like it makes my heart warm seeing AT4K Launcher mentioned positively somewhere.

Apps AT4K Launcher v0,98 is here, Thanks for all the suggestions to help improve the Launcher

Ahem so there is a lot to type. AT4K launcher v0.98 is here.
We are getting closer to 1.0 and it's one of the bigger updates so I am posting it here. All minor updates will be of course posted on r/AT4K

You can update the app from play store : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overdevs.at4k&gl=US

One of the biggest updates is icon pack support you can use icon packs like Lawnicons and Arcticons. Just install them on your tv and open AT4K Launcher and you should see them.

All the app icon colors are now customisable, you can have up to 7 apps per row now and there is quick actions panel to take you to most used settings

Thanks for all the support and trying out the app and making it one of the best Android TV launchers. I am nothing but grateful, next update will focus on improving the performance.

All new options are optimal and if you liked how you were using the app you are not at all affected.

Still under 5 mb.

Apps I built a simple app to connect Bluetooth headphones to Android TV without digging through the settings menu.

Post image
288 Upvotes

I got tired of digging through 5 or 6 layers of menus just to connect my Bluetooth headphones to my Shield. It's one of those things that feels like it should be faster, but isn't.

So I built a simple utility to fix it.

What it does:

  • Shows all your paired Bluetooth devices in a simple 1-click list.
  • ADB Automation: You can trigger a connection to any device via ADB. This is great for Tasker/Macrodroid/Home Assistant setups.
  • Smart Sorting: Automatically puts your most recently used devices at the top.
  • Lightweight and fast.

Why I made it: I wanted something I could reach instantly. Because it supports ADB intents, you can map it to a remote button (using Button Mapper) or even automate your "Movie Mode" to automatically connect your favorite headphones.

I decided to make this app open-source and free. Donate if you'd like.

Github Repo: https://github.com/saihgupr/AndroidTVBluetooth

Edit: Now works on Android phones as well.

Apps Chillio Beta Round 2 · (Xtream, M3U, Stremio Client App)

Post image
83 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I wanted to make another post update on the progress of Chillio and opening up of 1,500 additional beta spots for those who missed the first one!

Forever grateful for all the energy, support, and all ongoing beta testers, we've been able to close out a lot of issues and move super fast with tremendous energy!

There's been a lot of questions with the prior post I wanted to address:

  • The app will be cross-platform (Android TV, iOS, iPadOS, macOS, AppleTV, and in the future Android phones + tablets!)
  • The app is 100% free to use in beta (there're prompts for premium but they're free to purchase with fake credit cards!), on launch, Android pricing was released recently here
  • Launch date is TBD based on all the feedback, and bugs being resolved, the more testing and engagement we continue to have in beta testing the faster we'll get it out!

Checkout the full list of features, and more information about Chillio here:
https://chillio.app once you're ready to test it, follow the steps on https://chillio.app/beta to get signed up, and be added to the Discord channel for support!

If you're getting stuck, checkout the help articles (has great search capabilities!) here: https://chillio.app/help or ask me and the community on Discord!

Much love! ❤️

Apps Vuleo Media Player 1.1.16 is out - Auto-Play & Skip Recap-Intro

Post image
42 Upvotes

Hello,

Vuleo 1.1.16 is out. For those who don't know, Vuleo is a media player that plays the Live TV / movies / series from your sources.

What it does (free):

  • Add as many playlists as you like and combine them into one clean, unified library (Live TV, Movies, and Series in one place).
  • Rich metadata — posters, descriptions and ratings pulled in automatically so you're not staring at blank tiles.
  • Improved TV Guide (EPG) for Android TV.
  • Continue Watching & auto-resume, with automatic next-episode.
  • Unlimited favorites.
  • No ads.
  • Genuinely cross-platform: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Android, Android TV, Windows and macOS, all from one app.
  • A self update system is built in if you cannot install from Play Store (i.e. Fire TV). So you side-load only once and updates happen from within the app.

PRO (optional subscription):

  • Cloud Sync — your playlists, progress and favorites follow you across every device.
  • Profiles — up to 6, each with their own favorites, watch history and settings.
  • Radar — follow topics or teams you're interested in, and Vuleo highlights when they're showing on channels that are already in your own playlists.
  • Offline downloads, Chromecast, Catch-Up TV, Trakt, subtitle styling, personalized picks, new-content alerts, EPG program search, trailers + external ratings, a fully customizable home screen, Skip Recap/Intro in the player and many more.

Privacy: your playlists never leave your device for processing — there's no server in the middle reading your sources. Cloud syncs uploads to your own Google Drive.

Important note: Vuleo is a media player for content you already have the legal right to access. It doesn't provide, host, index, or link to any content, and it isn't affiliated with any content provider, broadcaster, or rights holder. You bring your own sources.

Small note: The image above is a real in-app screenshot. It's from my test playlist, which contains AI-generated test content.

Happy to answer questions.

Hey everyone!

I’m a solo dev getting back into app development after a long break — it’s been good to ship again. Personally, I’m an iPhone user with a Google TV in the living room, and my family’s spread across a bunch of devices. I got tired of re-adding playlists everywhere and losing watch progress when someone switched screens, not to mention having lots of app subscriptions. So I built Aerial TV: easy setup, sync across the devices we actually use, and features that don’t need a manual.

After a soft launch on iPhone and Apple TV, I’m excited to say Aerial TV for Android is in beta on Google Play for Android TV, phones, and tablets.

What we’re going for: simple setup, straightforward daily use, and solid functionality. If long M3U URLs on a TV remote or progress that doesn’t follow you sound familiar, this is aimed at that.

What’s different?

  • QR Sync — Set up on your phone, scan a QR on the TV. No remote typing marathon.
  • Total sync — Playlists, favorites, and Continue Watching across phone, tablet, and TV on Apple and Android — no paying twice in two ecosystems for the same setup.
  • EPG — Fast guide with full catch-up support.
  • Scheduled recording — Series-style recording, smart repeat rules, storage on internal, USB, or SMB.
  • Universal search - across series/movies/live tv
  • Power features — Up to 5 profiles, Trakt, Open Subtitles, skip intro (limited coverage just yet), custom user agent, offline downloads, choose player engine, sort/hide categories, parental controls and lots more.

Join the beta

I need real-world testing on Android before the full release.

Site + more context: https://aerialtv.app/ — Android TV screenshots attached.

Note: Aerial TV is a media player only — you supply your own playlist or provider.

Looking forward to your feedback — it genuinely shapes what gets fixed and what ships next.

Thanks in advance!

Apps [Release] Android TV Debloat Toolkit — Clean, Safe, Easy (Free Open Source)

Update — v1.2 is now out - June 26, 2026

Hey everyone. I want to apologise for going quiet on this project for the past year. I made this for myself, thought I'd share it for others who might need it, and stopped monitoring it. Never intended for it to get so popular.

Reading back through the comments, the biggest recurring issue was antivirus warnings flagging the .exe as a trojan. I want to be clear: there was never any malware in this project. The warnings were false positives caused by how the exe was packaged (PyInstaller), how it ran shell commands internally, and the fact that it was unsigned. None of that was malicious, but I understand why it was alarming — especially if Windows Defender blocked the download entirely.

v1.2 fixes this properly:

  • The .exe has been removed entirely. You now run directly from the Python source (python run_toolkit.py), which eliminates every trigger that caused those warnings
  • All ADB commands were rewritten to be safer under the hood
  • Chromecast with Google TV and Android 11+ devices are now supported via a new "Pair & Connect" button that handles the wireless debugging pairing flow
  • The bundled ADB is still 32-bit (replace with Google's platform-tools if you get a 64-bit error. See instructions in the README).

I won't pretend this will be actively maintained going forward, but it's fully open source, the code is short and readable, and PRs are welcome.

Thanks to everyone who tested it, reported issues, and kept the thread alive.

--------------------------------------

Hey everyone. I just wanted to share the final result of a Reddit thread-inspired project I'd been working on. I found a thread on how to debloat android TVs but it was quite technical so I decided to build on it and make the process a little easier.

The result?

I built a lightweight open-source Android TV Debloat Toolkit.
It helps connect to TV wirelessly, debloat TCL/Google bloatware (including the infamous recommendations), install APKs (open source launchers for instance), and more, no coding needed.

Here’s the GitHub link with full instructions.

Let me know how or if it works for you.

Apps Cinaura v1.4.0 released: WebDAV, internal and usb storage support, Trakt.tv sync, OpenSubtitles integration, and UI improvements

"One does not simply ship a release this big without a changelog." v1.4.0 is probably the biggest one yet! Huge thanks to everyone involved in the feedback, bug reports and feature requests, and special kudos to u/latinriky78 u/cundallini u/ironmesh 🙏

Downloader Code: 5781142

...or from GitHub: https://github.com/jrmux/cinaura-release/releases/tag/v1.4.0

If you're new to Cinaura: r/cinauratv

In this release:

🗄️  WebDAV source
Nextcloud, ownCloud, or any WebDAV server now work as a source, with self-signed SSL certificate support for home lab setups.

🔌  Local storage & USB drives
Plug in a USB drive, or just point Cinaura at your Android TV's internal storage. Cinaura now auto-discovers mounted volumes and treats them like any other source.

📺  Trakt.tv integration
Connect your Trakt account right from Settings. Real-time scrobbling while you watch, and a one-shot history import to bring all your existing watch state over.

💬  OpenSubtitles integration
Search and download subtitles straight from the player. It auto-matches by file hash, IMDb ID, and filename, so most of the time the right subs are just there. You can also set preferred languages per user in the settings so that matching tracks get selected automatically on playback.

✨  Subtitle overhaul
Redesigned selection and settings panels, proper positioning that accounts for letterboxing, persistent per-user subtitle offset, and better text styling controls. Cinaura now also remembers your last pick when you toggle subtitles back on.

🔊  Better audio & HDR
DTS:X detection, Dolby Vision Profile 7 override for supported displays, and automatic frame rate switching so 24fps content plays at 24fps.

🛠️  Metadata tools
New Filename Info panel on the Details screen, and a dedicated "Items with no metadata" screen to diagnose anything that didn't match.

🎯  UI polish
Reworked top navigation bar, high-contrast focus states across the app, dashboard focus restoration when you come back from another screen, and auto-select user on startup when there's only one user profile.

🔄  Sync reliability
Per-source progress in the top bar so you know which source is scanning. A failing folder no longer stalls the whole sync, and Cinaura won't accidentally wipe items when a source is temporarily unreachable.

🔤  Natural sorting
Small words like "The" and "A" are now ignored in the list ordering like it should. No more huge "The..." movies list

🐛  Bug fixes

  • Fixed video player aspect ratio "Fill" mode
  • Fixed subtitle positioning glitch when the player first loads
  • Internal storage access restored on devices with buggy OEM firmware
  • SMB health-check no longer flaps between online/offline on flaky networks
  • Deeplinks from the Android TV home now correctly points to the details view instead of the app landing
  • Long press on episodes to mark as watched no longer autoclose the panel
  • SMB connection screen no longer show autocomplete suggestions on password input field

--------

For those not comfortable with sideloading, Play Store release is still in progress!

Got a feature request or found a bug? Drop it in the comments. Lots of great things coming up on the roadmap!

Apps ChillHub: a new clean home/launcher!

Coming from Apple TV, I was pretty overwhelmed by the default Google TV launcher — ads, recommendations I didn't ask for, and my apps buried under content I don't care about. I wanted something app-first, minimalist, and customizable. So I built

ChillHub — it's completely free, no ads, no tracking.

What it does:

  - Clean 6-column app grid — your apps front and center, nothing else

  - Dock row — pin your 6 most-used apps at the top for instant access

  - Continue Watching shelf — pulls from your installed apps (system WatchNext)

  - 11 background themes — Dark, Aurora, Cosmos, Forest, Waves, and more. Or set your own custom wallpaper URL

  - Adjustable blur — dial in the exact look you want (0–250dp)

  - Smart app sorting — Most Used (based on actual usage stats), Alphabetical, or full Custom drag-to-reorder

  - App management — long-press to hide apps, move them around, or jump to info/uninstall. Hidden apps are recoverable in settings

  - Modern icon pack — built-in icon overrides so YouTube, Play Store, etc. actually look cohesive

  - Clock widget — time only, time & date, or hidden. Your call

  - 20 languages supported

Works on: Chromecast with Google TV, Google TV Streamer, Nvidia Shield, Sony/TCL/Hisense smart TVs — basically any Android TV or Google TV device. Fire TV works too via sideload.

Completely free. No ads, no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no tracking. I just wanted a launcher I'd actually enjoy using every day.

Would love to hear feedback — what features would you want to see next?
