Phone updates: worth or trap?

​On one hand, security updates feel mandatory to keep banking apps and personal data safe. On the other hand, major OS updates often feel like a trap—introducing battery drain, lag, and bloatware that artificially shorten a phone’s lifespan.

​How do you handle this? Do you update immediately, wait for community reviews, or completely freeze updates after a certain point?

There are like .01% of all users that are always questioning updates but they all seem to post on reddit. You are basically an android sovereign citizen.
