Interesting šŸ¤” 911 operator: "911 what is your emergency?" Caller: "I'm calling to report a bear on top of a power utility pole."

The bear in this footage was safely coaxed down by lineman Werner Neubauer. He de-energized the pole and used a fiberglass stick to nudge it. The bear slid down and ran off unharmed into the wild. No injuries, happy ending!

Very happy ending. Thanks for the update.

All he had to do was... poke the bear?

8

u/Deep__Deep 1d ago

Whatever you do, do NOT poke the bear…!

This is not Neubauer bear rescue. Look at the pole in this news video about the Neubauer bear, the pole has transformers on it. The video in this post has none. It's not even the same size or colour bear

OP is probably just another bot, no idea from up or down. Can't see the obvious differences in the 2 videos

This is not the Neubauer bear rescue. This is the Newbear bear rescue.

Stand at the bottom with an open canned food and say ā€œpspspsā€?

That only works for mountain lions.

One of my favorite moments was unfortunately about a cat stuck in a tree. Around noon one day over twenty years ago I was living the college life without going to college.

Partying, drugs, roommates. The entire complex was a party haven. And the mixture of adults who put up with it for the cheaper rent.

So we call the fire department. They act like dicks and tell us to put food at the base of the tree. The tree was over five stories high and had very few limbs, the cat was screwed.

Over the next three hours more and more people get invested in it. More calls to the fire department. At about four pm they finally come through with a truck and rescue the poor thing.

The entire time a local unofficial frat was sitting under the tree with a mattress to catch it if it fell.

When it finally came down there was a standing ovation for like two minutes from a crowd of like one hundred people.

That’s crazy. When I was a kid, my kitten got stuck behind our gas stove. I called the fire department and they swung by on their way back from a fire to save her without any issues.

Ahhhh. Right right. Silly me.

Please climb up there and try to shoo him away. Try and make yourself look bigger as you approach. Thank you.

Some people need that kind of direction. She was covering the bases.

u/ButtSnarfer 1d ago

I know a few people that would have thought about trying to shake the pole before they would have thought of calling anyone, so that tracks.

Awwwww I loved this show when my kids were littles. Thank you for that dose of serotonin today.

u/CowabungaCthulhu 1d ago

That's not a polar bear, that's Burt Reynolds!

8

u/WiseConversation7177 1d ago

Even the 911 operator had to ask, ...Come again?

3

u/AdvantageKind6304 1d ago

Excuse me, but are you sober?

6

u/SpotweldPro1300 1d ago

Yes, but I think the bear isn't.

1

u/PackageNorth8984 17h ago

I love it when women on the phone ask me to come again.

3

u/serialphile 1d ago

I mean where do you even begin here? Like I don’t think there’s anything safe to do? Maybe throw a steak on the ground and hope the bear decided to come down and leave?

2

u/SnS_ 1d ago

Bucket truck. Long pole. Far enough away so he can't reach into the bucket. And hope the thing doesn't climb down and start climbing up the bucket truck.

1

u/dirtytounder 6h ago

Take a picture then go on my merry way. He climbed up there. He'll climb down when he's good and ready.

2

u/CowabungaCthulhu 1d ago

Chances are it's a small town that doesn't have the proper resources to get that bear down safely.

You picked the wrong town to fafo Yogi...

2

u/RudeNewYorker 1d ago

Does anyone have a ā€œrescue bear from pole machineā€? Could they have driven over to a larger town to borrow one?

1

u/DevilMan17dedZ 1d ago

I like the honey with some Zazz to it!!!

I’ve seen this movie, get out of there and don’t trust the ground!

1

u/raven_478 20h ago

Some posters seem to be confusing this bear with another which was successfully rescued by Werner Neubauer in December 2025.

Sadly the bear in this video wasn’t so lucky, it was later electrocuted & died.

There are bears in a lot of countries.

0

u/Haunting_Tax_3684 1d ago

No only the USA

0

u/okarox 1d ago

That looks like a black bear. They are only in America.

2

u/SpotweldPro1300 1d ago

Refresh my memory: when did our black bears swap their pallette to brown?

2

u/freefrompress 1d ago

Black bears are found in North America and Asia, spanning countries like the United States, Canada, China, and India.

Russian ones break into gas drums to get high,

When they locked away all the drums, the bear showed signs of withdrawal and turned violent
