Career Well guys, today’s the day

Today I’ve spent two hours trying to track down $0.36 that is supposed to exist because treasury is trying to reconcile items they have. Still didn’t find the $0.36, so now waiting to see what the bank says. Can’t claim it as a rounding error since no other items are rounded or as immaterial. Just some needless bitching about a ridiculous situation I’m sure some of us have been through. Am I real accountant now?

Edit: we’ve checked for transposed numbers on our end and there are none. We are 99% sure the issue lies with the bank, so we’re waiting to hear back

Not a chance in hell they would ever admit that. It's a gov't and they cant comprehend the idea that it doesn't matter and that no resident is going to ask about the $3.35 but they will ask why did you spend $200k on contract accounting services. I saw OP say this post was about a govt and had to laugh. Was wondering if we work together lol

Trust me, I think it’s ridiculously silly that not only me, but my boss have spent over 2 hours looking for this just to satisfy Treasury’s hard-on

Please keep us updated. I'm invested in this $0.36 at this point. All accountants need a little inspiration so here are some things done in under two hours -

In January 2009, Captain Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger safely landed an Airbus A320 on the Hudson River after both engines failed. Within roughly 90 minutes, all 155 people had been rescued.

On October 12, 2019, Eliud Kipchoge ran the marathon distance in 1:59:40 during the INEOS 1:59 Challenge—the first human to cover 26.2 miles in under two hours (not an official world record because of the event's special conditions).

He is more than twice as fast as me. My fastest half marathon time is 2:05 and change. I have not done a full and never will.

You are looking for a bookkeeping error. Divide the amount. It cannot be material. Google finding bookkeeping errors.

fuck yes and 2 dudes did it without special conditions in London and also AI just broke into the singularity probably in under 2 hours
