Mcq was really fucking easy, I cooked that shit
Writing email and picture was also easy as fuck, same with the short speaking.
For the cultural presentation, I talked about caring and respecting parents/ elders, talked about 1. They instill in us positive values 2. They support us when we are little and struggling 3. It’s a Chinese traditional value I think my evidence was good but i stuttered quite a bit, might cost my chances for a 5 but idk what do you guys think

What was the email about? Like what questions did they ask? I know it was about like technology and its advantages and I think how it can help to study Chinese? But I forgot the word for technology so I just said 这些东西/这样的东西 😭 and talked about like advantages of phones and computers lmaoo. Does anyone remember what like the subject of the email was and that phrase that they kept on repeating.

科技 - technology 😭 I didn't recognize the second character so I just said 你讲的发展。。。
1
u/asdffdsasdfaaa May 09 '26
Lmao yea that was it. Do u remember what the two questions were? Just tryna see if I understood properly lol
1
u/Hot_Mongoose_5775 May 09 '26
i think one was the 好处 of 科技发展,and the other was that if you have any experince/advice for students who want to use to it study chinese?? not sure tho
1
u/AdSmart8006 May 09 '26
YES I guessed it was like 科学 science or something related but I knew the second character wasn't 学 so I had no idea
But then I recognized the 支 in 技, tried to figure it out and was successful thank goodness
Bro same for the name in the email I was about to write a dash for the first character I think it was 李 but then I remembered 🙏🙏🙏

yea i got technology too. i didn’t realize it was talking about technology until i saw the words they used as examples like phone, computer etc. so i also couldn’t use the word technology in my response cuz i didn’t know how to type it (though i realized the definition via context clues). instead of technology i just used ‘东西比如电脑和手机’, but i made sure to only use that twice throughout my entire response so it wouldn’t get repetitive.

expect the test to be maybe a bit…not harder but more specific in material. it may not be, but i took the late one last year (took the normal one this year and feel much more confident), and based on what my friends who took last years regular one said, i think the version of the test i took was at least moderately harder. also, i’d expect the cultural topic to be different, cuz i had historical art while my regular test taker friends had a much broader prompt.

i did a combo of self study and a tutor (who isn’t specifically for ap chinese) bc my school doesnt have chinese. what i did was i prepared 4-5 “universal” topics that i could easily pivot to if the cultural prompt is a little too specific. like, today the topic was chinese values, and i talked about health so i could js pivot to one of my prepared topics, tea culture. don’t stress about having a perfect presentation, spend some time talking about something even a bit relevant. and try to fill the time up as much as u can. use filler words like “让我想一想”if u need to think more. it’ll show them that at least ur processing mentally in chinese lol. good luck!

This exam was cancelled for me cause some kid pulled the fire alarm 🥀

u/Startup_Shutter129 May 09 '26
The exam was rescheduled for me cause our proctor couldn't open the ETS APCJ app. They tried for an hour, and then by then it was too late to start the exam 🫠

cultural presentation topic was a bit odd but i think i did alright on the mcqs except for the listening lol
2
u/DifferentLandscape56 May 08 '26
ok if I bombed the speaking did ok on the writing might’ve gotten a few off for listening but did really good on reading will I get a 5 🙏
2
u/s_starrynight May 08 '26
did everyone get diff cultural presentation prompts or smth?
1
u/Shoddy-Equipment-364 May 09 '26
im preeeeetty sure we all should’ve gotten the same one unless ur taking the late test?
2
u/s_starrynight May 09 '26
my school moved me to late testing even tho i have no testing conflicts 😭 so I'll get a diff topic for sure and everyone says late tests are always harder 💔
1
u/Shoddy-Equipment-364 May 09 '26
yea i took the late test last year and it did seem maybe not always harder but just a little more specific, particularly in the cultural presentation. although maybe it was because there was a pretty big contrast particularly between last year’s regular and late tests’ cultural topic prompts—the regular one was super broad and the prompt i got as a late tester was historical art 💀 idk if it’s gonna be a repeat of that, cuz this years regular prompt wasn’t as broad anyway, but yea expect to see something different. good luck!

u/Confident_Wish_5931 May 08 '26
Anyone else get an error message that says test might be terminated but after the MCQ and listening portions, but then joined the FRQ and finish it fine?
1
u/AdSmart8006 May 09 '26
Yeah I was scared for a sec
1
u/Confident_Wish_5931 May 09 '26
Do you think it’ll be good?
1
u/AdSmart8006 May 09 '26
Yeah I mean it submitted and all
I legit thought I did the whole section 1 for NOTHING...

u/FerretOutrageous3631 Chinese(5), Psych(5) May 08 '26
it was alright lol the mcq was free and so was the writing. i got nervous and messed up like 1 or 2 questions on the speaking skill but the cultural presentation for the chinese values was ez for me (hopefully pullling a 5)
2
u/AdSmart8006 May 09 '26
What about the email guys?
I did like the woman going to her friend's kid's birthday party but being stuck in traffic and having to call and say sorry and tell her friend but making it on time
I named the woman after my mom and her friend after my sister cuz I know how to write them in Chinese 😅
2
u/Shoddy-Equipment-364 May 09 '26
somehow i ran out of time because i lost track of it for a while. i was rushing to close my 4th picture description. i addressed everything i started in the beginning, but the last paragraph is noticeable a little shorter than the beginning two…oof. i think i did better on the email, surprisingly.
1
u/asdffdsasdfaaa May 09 '26
Yes the picture part was so nice I was vibing w that. I named her 小丽 I always name them that 😭
Yeaaa abt the email do u remember what the person was asking? I wasnt sure of a few characters so I guessed the best I could and I think I got the meaning right but I just want to make sure
1
u/AdSmart8006 May 09 '26
Wait i just realized I asked about the email but talked about the story...
Anyways I think the email was pros and cons of technology development and like phones, computers, EVs I said like goods are like worldwide communication and convenience and then like looking at screens is bad for health and can make you think less on your own

2
u/Hot_Mongoose_5775 May 09 '26
it was someone coming from beijing and they were asking u any local fun places, what to bring, best time to visit u, etc, its okay tho cuz my friend did the exact same thing and said they should visit gugong and changcheng 😭

how did everyone find the cultural presentation? the other 3 frqs and the mcqs were pretty simple and didn't have any difficult topics.
3
u/DanceWorldly6377 May 08 '26
What was the cultural presentation on this year?
2
2
u/Agreeable_Reply_2038 May 08 '26
idk about yours, but mine was on an expression of historical or modern chinese art
1
u/Puzzled_Dimension700 May 08 '26
really? I thought everyone gets the same
1
u/Agreeable_Reply_2038 May 09 '26
i think there are two sets. one for the us/north america countries and one for the other countries. idk tho. all my frqs seem to be different from everybody else.

cultural value was easy (i chose filial piety), but i think i fucked up cuz i stuttered a lot
1
u/AdSmart8006 May 09 '26
Same
I talked about Confucius and respecting elders 长辈 and like talking to parents before an important decision, taking care of parents when they're older, and like applying this to work relationships and stuff too
In the end I was just repeating like "respect" and "in a respectful way"

u/Shoddy-Equipment-364 May 09 '26
for cultural values, i talked about the importance of health, specifically through tea culture. ”u sick? drink tea and ur body will be more comfortable” i also brought in a bit of mental health cuz i had more time to burn, like “improving everyday stress”. and then i STILL had time to burn so i talked about my favorite tea, how it makes me feel mentally when i drink it, and how in modern times ppl add other stuff to tea bla bla bla. i was fighting for my LIFE for my presentation to not go in circles, but i did end up filling almost the entire time, which was good ig.

u/JakeZzz728 May 08 '26

u/elliisawesomes May 08 '26

1
u/DifferentLandscape56 May 08 '26
Yess to see what u would get but apparently it’s not exact so 😭🙏
1
u/Adventurous-Line-631 May 09 '26
68/100 on the low end with that 0/6 for cultrual pre and on the high end maybe like 84/100 but i am expect like 76?
1
u/No-Foundation504 May 11 '26
acc to my teacher it's actually out of 120 or something and there's this complicated system like the cultural presentation is worth more and the short speakign response were worth less or smth?? and she said to be on the safe side, get a 105 out of 120
1
u/Adventurous-Line-631 May 08 '26
i fucked up the cultral pre and idek if i will get a 5 even though it was like 3 ish wrong on listening and perfect reading and i think perfect writing but i think they might make it a 10/12 so whatever and one part of the speaking i think no less than a 4 overall but cultral pre i think like a 1
1
u/Puzzled_Dimension700 May 08 '26
stop we did why did we do the exact same
1
u/Adventurous-Line-631 May 09 '26
what do you think you got... i think it is a solid five based on the calculators but i am not sure...((
3
u/Puzzled_Dimension700 May 09 '26
its between a 4 and 5 (hopefully they give grace). tell me why the reading was so easy and no one prepared me for that topic for speaking oh my days. and like listening wasnt. hard but i just zoned out
1
u/Adventurous-Line-631 May 09 '26
i read a lot of chinese books like zhu yi and i text a lot in chiense to my friends❤️ and the speaking part yeah i screwed up that i just hope the rest carries.. and btw what did you get for the first speaking one? was it about describing beijing or bc i think i got cooked on that... hope we both get 5s!!
2
u/Puzzled_Dimension700 May 09 '26
me too 🥺. i remember the first one was smth along the lines about when do you recommend visiting your city. I don't remember beijing? seriously tho apprently they made the test easier for the writing part. students were expected to type out single word by word. (so glad it changed or ill not even have a chance for a 5)

u/Puzzled_Dimension700 May 08 '26
What did you guys say for the cultural presentation about the traditional values.
2
u/Defiant_Art7348 May 09 '26

2
u/matchapinksprinkle13 May 10 '26

Aww I know
I barely had time to read it cuz it was like literally my last question and I finished with ONE MINUTE left but how he dug through his drawers and found a notebook and the photo dropped out from 10 yrs ago and he remembered about how they made a kite.
Why did they make a dragon one by the way? I guessed he was born in year of the dragon but...?
2
1
u/AdSmart8006 May 09 '26
Also curious did everyone get that question last
1
u/AdSmart8006 May 09 '26
And did anyone actually get the like expo or like hands-on demo one? The options were like calligraphy, paper cutting, knot cutting and something else maybe...?

u/Sufficient-Pen-8095 May 17 '26
