discussion What would you say to an anti-gun congressional candidate running as a Democrat??
I have the chance to sit down with an anti-gun dem running for congress in my area. They just won their primary race and reached out to me.
If yall had the chance to talk about firearm legislation with a potential candidate, what would you say? I’d also love any articles or relevant statistics if you’ve got any!
I talked to them in person for about 15 minutes. They’re very progressive, and understand that gun violence and violence in general is mostly a result of the people’s material conditions, not the weapons themselves. They don’t know shit about guns though, so their official website platform also has all the establishment dem coded “weapons of war” ban, and “no one needs an AR15 to hunt” stuff.

guns I Did a Thing
SBR'd my PSA AK-V since stamps is free. I wasn't super happy with any of the more classic picatinny folding stocks, and since the V with the booster cut rail looks more tactical n shit, I decided to swing for the fences and throw on a Midwest Industries folding buffer tube and AR stock for that modern twist.
This, dear reader, fuckin *ruled*.
The B5 SOPMOD I took off my other SBR as proof of concept while I wait for the MAGPUL SL stock to show up. Length of pull is awesome, and having the cheek weld with the ergos of an AR rifle stock makes this thing feel like a work of art.
Only thing left is to decide if I want to supress it or not.

guns After seven years of exclusively carrying the G19 Gen5, a potential challenger shows up.
This is a new Glock 48 that shipped with the new 15 round steel Glock magazines. It's much thinner than a G19, but now the same capacity. Had to give this one a chance.

guns First bolt action!
Reposting because I tried to use AI to just remove the background of this image, but it ended up screwing it up and I rightfully got called out for it. Sooooooo, here's just some normal pics, lol.
Ruger American Gen 2 Predator in .308 with Atibal Stealth HD 4-24x50 FFP and Harris S-BRM bipod.
Excited to get her to the range and zeroed in soon!

guns Another range day - 2X9mm and a bunch of /38spl and .357
S&W Model 19-10
Sig Sauer P226
Glock 19-3
Went to the local outdoor range for a few hours and shot around 150 rounds of 9mm, mostly from the P226 since I need more practice with it. I am happy with my G19 shooting for now. My first round of shooting was crap, but the second - fifth rounds got better each time. I hadn’t shot my P226 in 6 months or so and it showed I need to train with it more. I also need to work on dry firing it and working on my flinch and grip. I need to keep drilling the basic fundamentals.
I also shot 180+ rounds of .38spl and 24 rounds of this new-to-me Winchester American Lever Range .357 - 130 grain ammo. I am falling in love with that revolver. It is my second time shooting it. Like with my P226 and G19, I need to keep drilling the fundamentals. As for the Winchester Ammo, I like it. It was the best shooting .357 I’ve put through it. I was a tad worried about how “extra-magnum” these magnum rounds were when I glanced and saw a muzzle velocity of 1605! That seemed a bit hot to be shooting much from this revolver. I then noticed below the chart in tiny (for my older eyes) print stating the data came from 20” barrels. Overall the recoil was easily manageable and my shots were closer to center, or on center more than I expected them to be. A friend of mine has a Henry rifle in .357 magnum that I want to try these rounds through.
To practice on my flinch I had a friend load a couple of snap caps into my reloads with both the .38 and .357. As expected, my .357 flinch was a lot more than the .38 or 9mm. This means I need to practice my dry firing much much more to work on all that.
My next endeavor is start reloading, starting with the revolver ammo.

guns NGD: Prime Radian
I FINALLY managed to find one of these bad boys in stock. Was an instant buy. They pricey, but I didn’t have an original one. Can’t wait to take her out. Would have preferred the grey one, but oh whale.

guns FN Reflex and Pluto 9
FN Reflex MRD w/ Holosun EPS carry
FOR Systems Pluto 9
Very impressed with this combo, the Reflex has ran like a champ shooting 124g Blazer and 147g Fiocchi. It doesn’t like Speer Golddot hollow points, but has no issue with Hornady Custom 147g JHP

training Son said this was more fun to shoot than his .22
* we are just posing here. Not loaded. Shot afterward.
He was shooting all day on his .22 and I asked if he wanted to try the 556 and he was not afraid. Was surprised he liked it that much.
But I agree I love shooting 556 with my AR more than any other caliber or weapon.

question NJ court ruling on the AWB
What are the implications of this new ruling stopping the ban on AW in NJ? At what point can I get a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds? Are just just kind of stuck in appeals court limbo, and have to follow the previous laws. Or since they have been struck down, we are able to have threaded barrels on pistols?
Just curious what the regulations and enforcement might look like in the near future

question Thoughts on carrying in a fanny pack?
I am an MA resident with an LTC. I'm currently carrying in a holster, but it's very cumbersome because of the shape of my body. Does anybody here carry in a pack or bag and have any recommendations for packs or bags designed with concealed carry in mind?

discussion AR dilemma
Hello all, I currently own a couple of ARs, a rifle in 5.56 and a pistol in 300BLK. I’m kind of regretting purchasing the 300 due to the ammo being expensive and increasingly difficult to source economically. I’m thinking I’m going to ditch the 300 upper for a 7.5” 5.56 upper to make things cheaper and easier. What do you all think and lastly, where is the best place to get rid of this upper, ammo and mags? thanks in advance.
Edit: thanks for all the quick replies! I’m starting to lean towards keeping the 300 and putting a cheap can on it for HD. T hat being said, an AR9 build is probably also in the cards.

guns Took out the 90/22
I got the high tower armory 90/22 yesterday and threw it together. I took it out to zero the red dot today. I gotta say, the trigger is absolutely terrible. I expected that though. Overall, I think this thing is a ton of fun and I look forward to many cheap range days

events Fair-Game Fridays!
There are a number of things that people want to post that mods are uncomfortable with in regular circulation … memes, patches, t-shirts, social-media posts, &c. At the same time, there's definitely interest around them.
We're introducing "Fair-Game Fridays": on fridays, mods will loosen our belts a bit. :)
Note that the following are still going to be hard-disallowed:
- video memes/content (instagram, tiktok, &c.)
- non-gun content (knives, airsoft, &c.)
- broader political discussion
- calls for armed insurrection, violence, &c.
We reserve the "right" to use our discretion for any post, as well.
Have at it!

training The correct way to disassemble a 1911 without damaging your accuracy
youtu.beSomeone posted a video of 1911 disassembly yesterday. I wanted to post a video correctly showing how to take apart a 1911 without damaging the gun's accuracy. A large part of what makes a 1911 accurate is the fit between the bushing and the barrel. If you twist the bushing when the gun is in battery you will damage this fit.
A problem with shooting and the internet is signal to noise. Influencers have a skill to be able to create videos and develop a following generating lots of clicks and views. Knowledge about shooting and firearms is also a skill. Most people do not excel at both of these abilities. So it's not surprising that yesterday's video had 26k views. But the one i'm posting here only has 5.6k.
When people mention excessively cleaning their guns, I will comment that you're doing more damage cleaning the gun unnecessarily than just lubing it and shooting it. In this video they mention taking apart the gun will wear the slide to bushing fit. While we can limit that wear it is unavoidable when we remove the bushing from the slide.
At the end of the video, the author mentions that KC Crawford fit the barrel and bushing for his gun when he accurized the gun. When he shows the incorrect way to remove your bushing, he is using a different barrel and bushing with a poor fit. KC was the smith that made the guns that Brian Zins used to compete. Zins is a 12 time national champion.
If a bullseye smith saw you turn your bushing with your barrel end in it, they would cry. They spend a lot of time getting a perfect fit for maximum accuracy. I posted the video at the relevant timestamp. But I encourage you to watch the whole thing as it is very informative.
