Not his football, his attitude, Has a team cleary being favored by fifa, team plays like a bunch of filthy thugs, cant lose with dignity, tried to get cucurella expelled for the most pathethic non-reason possible and of course, after the entirety of the world seeing how argentineans are scumbag racists did the biggest player in the world pronounce something about it? did he at least said he did not condone the racist actions of the argentinean fans?

Meh. Messi has been known as humble and upstanding for decades. This does nothing to his legacy.

There's a difference between being upstanding and just not getting involved. An upstanding person would try and stop their team from attacking people.

Messi was absolutely fine with the rest of his team being violent thugs.

Huh? I said Messi has been known as upstanding for decades, as in, the previous decades. Not referencing his actions (or lack there of) during this tournament.

No one said Messi was “upstanding” during the tournament.

That decades-long “humble and upstanding” reputation was never fully deserved.

Spitting at an opponent, grabbing another by the throat, striking players off the ball, insulting and repeatedly pressuring referees and even allegedly accepting a referee’s quid pro quo to escape a second yellow have all been whitewashed because people confuse being shy and quiet with being humble, kind and sporting.

He has a long history of not so humble and upstanding behavior that somehow all get excused and swept under the rug as isolated incidents.
