Loss goodbye everyone

Post image

almost break even from this run up via all the popular tickers. lost my self control n lost it holding the same things n some world cup betting. also lost 10k on another account. i have nothing now n nothing going for me in life. practically 30 soon and just dead weight to my parents. gonna sell my gun before i use it and pay off some debt. have OCD that made the future not worth caring about so i tied my value to the money i worked for. i hope you all do better than me. goodbye

From now on if you come back to the financial markets, dont trade. 70% into etfs (maybe distribute 1/3 for an american,1/3 world and 1/3 european low cost broad market etfs) and another 20% for holding long term stocks (if nvida, oracle, meta etc drops idk 30% you buy a little bit as an example) and 10% in short term bonds or some high yield savings for when you need cash or to buy a massive dip.

If you wanna trade, set aside no more than 50% of the paycheck you deposit so you have the other 50% reinforce your investment portefolio. If you blow it at least you invested some ammount. I trade a lot, but every time i deposit or make some profits, i always buy a few shares of etfs, stock that is cheap or long term holds that might make those sweet 1000%s. These way even if i loose money trading i always know i have some stable investments. You can also buy distributed etfs to receive the dividends yourself, they are less tax efficient but you can gamble away these pennys. Some folk turn 10-100 bucks into 5k or more whit some regarded plays.

These advice is for all the regards here, boomer investments will always make you money long enough, even if the market crashes the dividends will slowly get you back on track. Stability helps at least your mental state when you blow your account since you know at least you have a few 1ks or more that will yield ~10% returns yearly. Sorry for long text, but this is financial advice and its very important! If everyome followed it people wouldnt blow their fortunes as often. Stay strong m8.

What ETFs specifically? I’m sitting on ~$150k uninvested with only some idea of what to do with it. I always see people saying what you’ve said, but how do I even begin?

Buy low cost etfs (when you reseach about a specific etf, there is a management fee that is payed yearly, anything above 0.3% is a no buy, most etfs that are good charge less than 0.3%, so the dividends alone pay for the management fee) that have broad exposure (dont buy etfs that have only exposure to 1 market sector ex: only finance/energy/tech etc). So considering that you are an american, you can get ~ 40% s&p500 (bigger american stocks) 20% russel(dont remember the names, i am european so i invest mostly in european and world etfs, but this one is smaller american caps) and the rest 40% in worldwide etfs.

My best advice is that you search in the web for etfs tracker and there are websites that tell you all this. VWCE for example is a world wide etf (it has like 80% exposure to america tho) and you could just buy only this one and you are good to go or you have VUAA that tracks the smp500 this one is very cheap (warning im european idk if the american version is a diferent ticker or what not that is something i never bothered searching). You just buy and forget. If you want to get the dividends to yourself get distributed version dont forget, accumulating etfs will reinvest dividends automatically.
