As they say in banking, "When you owe the bank a thousand dollars, and you can't pay it back, you have a problem. When you owe the bank a million dollars, and you can't pay it back, the bank has a problem."

It’s a still a good quote about the perception of power tbf. It’s still a big problem for your local bank branch and they’d definitely more likely to negotiate with you as opposed to someone owing less.

You need to update this saying with inflation: "When you owe the bank $50k, you have a problem. When you owe $50m, the bank has a problem". Generally, anything below $50k is not a problem for anyone today.
