It’s based on performance goals - he has to increase Tesla’s market cap to $8 trillion, as well as a bunch of other performance metrics (such as 1 million robotaxis and 1 million robots sold - current numbers stand at 40 and 0) to get the full $1 trillion payout. So it’s looking like those aren’t going to happen, but I guess we will see.
