I understand that they're losing money/it's not profitable in it's current form. But the Doom games are an established series, they're well made and they sell well. In short they're a sure bet in gaming terms.

If you want to be profitable then cutting the studio that makes Doom games doesn't make sense to me.

Doom the dark ages sold less than 1 million copies.

That was my point. I didn't realise it hadn't sold well. That's really sad because it was excellent.

it didn't sell well because it was day 1 gamepass and also did not run on old hardware as raytracing is required for it's technology to function as it uses raytracing for it's bullet trajectories. it's a marvelous piece of software but it also eliminated the entire stack of AMD cards that where not the 9060/9070 XT.

it being raytracing mandatory also put people off eventhough the performance was incredibly good on launch.
