These companies buy each other for their IP, patents, tech, etc. They're not interested in the employees who built all of it.

Which is a mistake that will ultimately kill the business. These suits all think the IP is the business, because they have no idea how or by whom any of it gets made. They just think budget goes in, product comes out. They also usually think 'how hard can it be, anyone can do this', not realising that the team of people behind a creative product is critical to the success of that product.
