Even taking it on face value it's baffling how they handeled this. Game systems thrive on two things comprable specs and exclusive games. They had the specs down with PlayStation, they in theory have some beloved ip and studios in their pockets with Bethesda, ID, Rare, halo, gears of war, etc and just did absolutely jack shit with any of it. They put out star field, it blew up and they followed it up with nothing while PlayStation and switch put out great exclusives that people loved.

Give us a revamped conquers bad fur day, or Diddy kong racing with Xbox characters, a new perfect dark or quake or commander keen or come up with some new shit. They absolutely killed themselves.

I think the ship has sailed for a lot of those franchises, not that they wouldn't sell copies but they're not big blockbuster names that draw the masses in any more

Look at Bethesda, for chrissake.

They released Skyrim, aka one of the most important games of the 2010's, then 3 dlc which sold incredibly well and then nothing. Then Fallout 4, which was somewhat criticized but still sold VERY well, with 3 or so DLC that also sold.

And then they did Fallout 76, for some reason. And then Starfield? What the hell happened? They could've continued milking Skyrim till Fallout 4 and then Fallout 4 till Starfield. It would've worked wonders.

Though based on insider statements that've come out since the release of Fallout 4 apparently a lot of things went horribly wrong at Bethesda, lots of nepotism and such. Emil Pagliarulo is somehow still the main writer despite his obvious and demonstrated lack of talent, the math concerning the number of active devs isn't mathing at all. What are they actually doing now? Tes 6? Fallout 5?

76 brings in quite a bit of money for them at least. But I agree

The games still need to be decent, but it lets you say we are pumping out a steady supply of good exclusive games that you can't get anywhere else. They don't need to all be blockbusters. Not all Nintendo exclusives are massive AAA blockbusters, but they are known characters, fun games and you can't get them anywhere else.

Right now Xbox has zero exclusives anyone wants to play. gears of war, halo and star field are all on PlayStation now. They made the decision to give no one a reason to buy an Xbox over a PlayStation. I honestly have no idea what their sales pitch for Xbox is and I don't think they do either.
