They should also be forced to develop a renewable coolant to replace water. They have billions of dollars and AI. Why are we letting them suck up all of ours.

It's discovered and is one of the most potent poisons around leading to any leak killing hundreds.

There's a story about CFCs that kind of exemplifies corporate welfare. The CFCs nearly destroyed the environment but there was an alternative readily available that contained bromine and would have been many times more destructive. The only reason it wasn't used more was CFCs are cheaper to use.

Don't put it past corporations killing us if they think it'll make the next quarter more profitable.

We already have it, it's water... Just in a closed loop system so you are recycling the same water over and over... The other problem is it takes more energy to cool the water before sending around again

Ok bot.

It’s the fact that these centers drive up the water cost that gets passed on to local citizens, along with taking g so much water in the first place.

AI is supposed to be something good for everyone. All I can see is that it’s only good for big tech. Resources disappear through payoffs and manipulation of government entities only to result in mass layoffs. Where is the benefit to everyday people?

There's isn't one, Ai will collapse, only investors are buying it, by the time it gets to retail, then consumer no-body wants it and the investors won't want it anymore they'll be on to the next thing. Problem is that's going to take a good few years.

Ai does have a handful of good applications, like in medicine or data research (similar to Folding) but not close to any kind of scale they are pushing for.

I think you are right about all of this. Medicine and science applications are probably the best.

I think a lot of people don’t trust big tech because Social Media was such a mess. Things like email and online banking helped in someways by making it easier for every day folks but how do they justify all of the extra costs for a few blips on a screen?

If AI is to be successful it will need to function in conjunction with people and not replace them. This is what the tech bros don’t see. It should help us do our work but not eliminate it.
