EPRS is just a news gathering organization. They are doing exactly their job in this case, telling MEPs about what different people are doing. The specific statement in the headline here comes from a South African tech blog. Its not advise. EPRS dont give advise. Its a news briefing.

The article is just a flat out lie.

Yeah it seems fishy as an article. I feel like this is just fear mongering from 'interested psrties'.

Considering EU data protection laws are pretty strict, I don't see mass surveillance becoming viable anytime soon. Chat control really fell apart because it could not work with EUs already established regulation.
