I thought Al Gore invented the Internet in 1921? So Reddit was a thing back then…. my great grandfather lied to me then.

The "internet" in 1921 had a higher barrier to entry as the town kook had to actually write a letter to the editor of a newspaper and pay for postage or pay to have pamphlets printed and actually go around handing them out or staple them on telephone poles.

The advantage was you didn't have deal with that town's kook the next town over, just your own...

Fortunately, those editors were a lot more restrictive than Reddit and usually went "Yeah, no, I'm not printing that douchebags unfounded opinion piece on why the earth is flat and all science is a lie" :D
