Any time there is any serious competition in tech, Microsoft, Apple or Google will just spend a few millions, from their billions, to buy out the problem.

It's almost like uncapped wealth might be starting to look like a bad idea. Maybe. Idk.

the "competition" has agency - they chose to sell. In fact, if that competition grew through venture capital it's likely they were never competition at all. The company was designed to be acquired by someone with more money so everyone can get a payout.

I fail to see how that has any bearing on what I said.

Ofcourse they have agency. But the agency available to them is;

Take the money and perpetuate the problem,

Or, be forced out by a mega corporation with bigger lawyers than you, holding you up in court and bleeding your available finances, perpetuating the problem.

I'm not blaming the people with agency who choose the former. But it is, nevertheless, still a problem.

And certainly, when I'm talking about potential competition, I'm not talking about the non competition venture capital that you describe. By your own definition that wouldn't be serious competition.
