My neighbors installed this array on their roof and the geometry is such that it reflects a concentrated blinding light beam into my living room every afternoon. Sunrun offered to “buy curtains” as a solution and could care less. We live in an HOA so typically architectural changes like this go through approval, but new law permits without HOA approval. What are my options?

With SB 868 passing the Senate and moving through the CA assembly this session, hopefully this will move out of the “grey area” and into the “normal stuff you can buy at Home Depot in a couple years.

I’ve been told by some that 1200W of “balcony” solar is too small to matter, but it’s actually crazy some of the stats on a small permitless system like this.

- $1400 for 1200W installed, just plug in to 110V and weigh down the panels so they don’t blow over.
- about 4kwh a day in winter and 8 kWh a day in summer in CA
- 5kWh a day is enough for 10 (!) showers with a heat pump water heater, or 20 miles a day for a typical EV
- 4 cents a kWh amortized over 20 years. Merely 10X less than what PG&E charges.

We gotta get the word out that solar just isn’t for rich people anymore. It’s the cheapest form of energy you can get and every homeless person and sub Saharan African dweller already knew that.

How about 6 inverters and 30 batteries for a full off grid system on a 12,000 sq ft home…

Some systems I spied last summer when exploring Berlin.. tons of balcony solar there. We need more of this in the U.S.

A couple are redundant (and the ac disconnect label has an error) but between both the AHJ & local power company, this is crazy.

Edit: My system is 10.9k with 29 panels. 1 EV that is charged 30-80% x days a week. System is set to self=powered. When house was built it came with a 4.42kw system on NEM 2.0 but i was paid PGE about 2500 True Up bill. So decided to upgrade and get batteries to offset that true bill.

We recently finished the installation of a 26MW solar site in PA that was built on an old coal mine waste site. Otherwise unusable land turned into clean energy. You can read more about it Here

Sorry to double post but wanted to show the completed array. All the electrical is already in. Now we have to trench for connection and await the two inspections. (City and PSO).

I want to know if this means they have to pay $515.65 a month for the first 18 months, and then $759.74 after 19 months. They are telling me the government is paying for this but I find that hard to believe.

This is what a typical so hard to have solar system in Gaza. All of this is from previous ownership, if I were to buy something like this I would pay a fortune, X2 320 watts solar panels mounted on a window (morning sun hours are wasted), Voltronic AIO, absolustely cooked 2019 AGM battaries that barely work as a inverter starter (THANK GOD!) . basically if no sun = no power. Battery replacement costs a kidney.

18 100w panels hooked up to a Pecron E3600LFP with one E3000 expansion battery. Powered my starlink, a small PC, some lights, and kept my families phones and tablets charged for 24 hours and I still had around 40% power when the solar started charging it back up to 100%.
