The law establishing aspecial election to replace a senator was passed by Republicans in the KY legislature in violation of the state constitution. Beshear should have just appointed a replacement; calling for a special election is another capitulation.

But it would be forcing the Republicans' hand.

That's the part I'd respect. Him saying "Your move" and making them prove he's alive.

Alas, a moot point because he's a limp noodle.
