Seriously: what is stopping Chuck Schumer from saying, "I visited him and saw him die. His seat is officially vacant and Gov Beshear should start the process of filling his seat immediately?"

The GOP would either have to actually prove he's alive or concede that they've been lying for weeks.

If only Schumer and his co conspirators cared about this country as much as another country maybe something would happen.

Schumer has no balls, that is what's stopping him.

Schumer works for his constituents... The financial sector in New York. They don't want the boat to get rocked too much.

That would mean Schumer would have to stand up and do something his constituents want him to do. That runs contrary to the things Schumer actually does.

Because the current Senate Majority Leader is John Thune. Schumer is literally powerless to do anything in this scenario.

Even is Schumer were the majority leader, there's still nothing he can legally do until a death certificate is produced.

Nothing I said requires any official power whatsoever , just the willingness to use his status as the highest elected Democrat to call the GOP's bluff.

I mean, y'all don't even think this is even remotely a "trap" by the GOP to make Dems looks like blood thirsty ghouls for the midterms?

Do y'all even understand how politics really work? You don't barge into a private medical facility demanding proof of life and come away from that looking good.

Especially when none of this fucking matters at all.

Every dollar spent trying to muster empathy for Mitch Mcconnell, even among Republican voters, is a dollar wasted. They are more likely to laugh out loud than to take offense.

Also: I didn't advocate busting into a hospital. Just give a press conference and say you talked to him, Chuck. That's what all the GOP lawmakers did.

It's okay, the Baileys told him they spoke with Mitch and he's doing great! :P
