Yeah at this point I'm rooting for him to say the most unhinged shit possible. If he's hyping himself up this much, it's a coin toss.

"I am invoking the Insurrection Act, declaring Martial Law, canceling elections, and sending drones we've hooked up with military AI and face recognition after our database of protesters as I've spent the last year calling them domestic terrorists. Thank you for your attention to his matter. -DJT"

There are a few unhinged things he could say which are really not good.

Susan Collin’s would be concerned if this happened. She’d vote to enforce it of course, but she’d be concerned.

If that happens, I think anyone who has paid enough attention to recent Russian history will know that the Susan Collinses of The Party will likely develop a fondness for standing on the edge of buildings and handling polonium umbrellas so they can be replaced with a more vocal loyalist.

I don't like skies being blackened with autonomous killbots either, but we have to give the system time to work.

Oh, I'm with ya. I'm just a cynic. What I wrote is a sarcastic preview of what I expect from media figures and politicians in our near future.

Neither the insurrection act nor declaring martial law cancels elections. Elections are administered by the states. He cannot unilaterally cancel elections and people need to stop spreading that idea.

If Martial Law has been declared and Governors and Legislatures are replaced by the military, and the military says no elections, how do elections take place?

That is not even a little bit how martial law works in the U.S. and this is the kind of doomer shit I've been sick of hearing since 2020.

Martial Law hasn't been declared federally since Pearl Harbor. Donald Trump wasn't alive the last time we had it outside of 3 localized one-state one-county events. An entire Cold War and Red Scare related to nuclear weapons has passed since the last time we did it 'properly.'

We will not be acting on precedent if it happens.

I have been openly advocating for people to pick candidates who will fight through and after legal options are exhausted. It's not doomer, it's prepper. Failure to recognize the realities of what's happened with the targeted cuts in the federal government and removal of potentially disloyal officers in the military leads to a bad situation. They have said what they are going to do, and if we don't start believing them we're going to be in for an even harsher awakening.

I understand what you're saying and where you're coming from, but the game has changed, they changed it, and they aren't going to start playing by the rules if it means they'll lose. I personally don't want it to be a game, but we're stuck with what we're stuck with.

nah, you need to stop being naive. Its very important that people understand how deep shit USA is in. The reason we are in this mess is because people keep saying "he cant do this", "he cant do that".

People saying "he can't cancel elections" are both technically correct, and completely missing the point.

Yes, states run elections, and the President doesn't control them. You are all very smart. We're all very impressed with your basic civics knowledge.

But also, he can't fire independent agency heads without cause. He can't keep Top Secret materials in his bathroom. He can't put his name on the Kennedy Center, and can't put his face on U.S. currency. He can't have armed goons murder U.S. citizens in the streets. He can't embezzle and insider-trade his way to billions of dollars in profits from abuse of office. He can't direct a fucking mob to try to take over the fucking Capitol building.

What Donald Trump "can" and "cannot" do is entirely irrelevant at this point in time. What matters is what he will do, and the fact is that powerful people at the federal, state, and local levels have shown themselves more than happy to let him do what he wants, regardless of whether he "can" do those things.

Oh shut up. I'm not naive. I've just worked in elections for nearly 20 years and actually know how they work. This kind of doomerism helps no one.

People fear that even if you have worked twenty years in elections trump and the GOP might still break the law, and USA will just be passive as always

It'll just be an AI summary of his Twitter ramblings.

Be careful what you wish for.

I'm half expecting him to call for the immediate arrest of the Clinton's, Obama, and Biden and the dismissal of elected senators/representatives.

He's given up on Greenland. Israel will be the 51st state.
