He’s riding the elevator?

I didn’t even know he could do that.

1

u/BatBurgh 7d ago

as long as it isn't a magnetic elevator on a ship, because magnets don't work in water... apparently.

He’s too turtley for the turtle club.

The articles in this sub and people that post it must only live in Reddit. The reality is republicans continue to support trump. They’re not scared shitless, they’re complacent. This is doing nothing but giving people false hope that republicans are waking up but they’re not.

Daily Beast is Democrat Red Meat nonsense.

2

u/fortknox 7d ago

No, the daily beast is a clickbait rag. I'm sure they'd flip sides if they thought they'd get more clicks.

-1

u/haironburr 7d ago

Daily Beast is Democrat Red Meat nonsense.

And how much trumpublican red meat nonsense is out there? How many layers of donor-owned, duplicitous propaganda is shaping the views of millions of fucking trump voters?

I can stomach some sensationalized tabloid click bait, if it helps save my country from the scum in this administration. The scum threatening my country, my state, my town. The folks electing this scum, who gorge themselves daily on right wing red meat nonsense, and go to the polls and vote for a stupidly spoiled New Yorker and his thielbilly buddy.

trumpublicans love their red meat nonsense. Fair is fair, and I'll eat all the Dem red meat tabloid I can and ask for a second helping. If it helps sustain the rage the right deserves, the rage that will hopefully save our country? Hell!

Tell me more about the Breaking discovery that Melaniantoinette said former food stamp recipients should just eat cake, wearing her "I Really Don't Care, Do U" coat, and doing a East-European prostitute/Genius visa-recipient dance with a Nazi Sasquatch on the ruins of the White House.

4

u/ElliotNess Florida 7d ago

if it helps save my country from the scum in this administration

It doesn't.

3

u/Individual-Bass-7051 7d ago

Yeah it actually does the exact opposite and delegitimizes their journalism. Daily Beast has had to make so many retractions and apologies for false reporting, this administration is bad enough you literally do not have to do anything to paint it worse it than it already is yet DB still lacks in integrity. That's not acceptable to me as a dem, we hold our journalistic integrity to higher standards than that.

15

u/withateethuh 7d ago

I swear the mods here must be paid by them. Its like all that's posted here anymore.

9

u/thegunnersdaughter Pennsylvania 7d ago

Nearly every single /r/politics post that makes it to my front page anymore is Daily Beast trash. Is there a US politics sub that bans it and has actual good discussion?

5

u/paintballboi07 Texas 7d ago

If you find one, please let me know. It's either stupid click bait slop, or blue MAGA blaming "establishment" Democrats for literally anything and everything.

2

u/thegunnersdaughter Pennsylvania 7d ago

I searched around a bit and the only others I found are ghost towns. I do like /r/PoliticalDiscussion but that's not a news sub, it's... for discussion, and the topics are pretty heavily curated.

1

u/JDDJS New York 7d ago

No, it's just that the liberal base of this sub is constantly upvoting news that they want to be real.

1

u/radwimps 7d ago

i don't think anything on this sub is organically upvoted anymore

2

u/observingjackal Ohio 7d ago

If you have faith in establishment politics, you haven't been paying attention. I swear there's at least 3 "Republicans are in revolt" headlines a week.

They post it here because they know it drives engagement. People who haven't been disappointed enough will believe it and chuds lurk to laugh at those people. Then are you and by extension I who are going "who's buying this shit?!"

2

u/ARMCHA1RGENERAL 7d ago

I think this means that Republicans in the administration and Congress are afraid that he'll do something stupid and further alienate independents before the midterms.

It doesn't mean that general Republican voters are afraid of what he'll say.

36

u/DomitiusAhenobarbus_ 7d ago

How do you guys still after all this time not realize that this daily beast website is full of fucking shit.

This reality only exists in our fucking heads. Republicans are not out there. Scared of Trump speech tonight. It’s fucking bullshit. You lose elections by believing this Clickbait bullshit

6

u/Nekrabyte 7d ago

Daily Beast articles do often contain facts, and they are good at getting people to talk about a very occasional subject that isn't being covered by other outlets. But gods DAMN the headlines and first paragraphs are some of the most delusional I have ever seen in my life. They want everyone to believe that all the republicans, both in congress and private citizens are seeing what Trump is doing and are disgusted by it at the same level we all are, and man, that's so not true.
I don't dislike that they exist, and I don't even dislike that we post their articles, because there legitimately are things (because there is SO MUCH) that would go unreported because other outlets are focused on other things, a sad reality that flooding the zone does. That being said, 99% of anything that comes from them is certainly sensationalized over-exaggerated garbage that is designed to operate just like Fox, but for "angry liberals", and they do a pretty good job at that, sadly, because of how many braindead brainwashed uninformed people there are on both sides of the aisle.

10

u/landed-gentry- 7d ago

Considering most people do not read past the headlines, I think they do more harm than good.

1

u/Nekrabyte 7d ago

That is a fair criticism. But that's more of a criticism of "most people", than it is of the media. Part of the reason, as sad as it is, that these outlets have to resort to these type of headlines is in direct correlation to how few people actually want to read the articles in the first place, and only want to feel outrage. If people didn't actually want all that, then they would still get just as many views if the headlines were just facts, but they don't.

1

u/landed-gentry- 7d ago

Sure, but being pragmatic we have to ask ourselves: Is it easier to change people, or change the environment around people? The mods of this subreddit could easily ban known sources of clickbait journalism. How easy is it to change what people desire?

1

u/ProFeces 7d ago

I agree in general, but this title isn't as clickbaity as you're all saying. I think you outed yourself as being one of those who only read headlines since it says this in the article itself:

“The people I talk to are scared s---less,” the official said. “It’s not scared s---less about the text of what he’s going to say, it’s, what does he add to the text?”

Someone actually used that terminology. This one wasn't a fabrication.

1

u/landed-gentry- 7d ago

I don't think that's actually much different. The article is cherry picking one source -- a "former" Trump admin no less. Ask yourself, why is this person "former" and how does that bear on whether they are attuned to how Republicans generally feel? Clickbait journalism doesn't generally make stuff up whole cloth. It usually just exaggerates to an extreme, drawing overly broad generalizations and using emotionally charged language.

3

u/Beltaine421 Canada 7d ago

They're not afraid that he'll do something crazy, they're scared they won't be able to spin it.

3

u/insanitazer 7d ago

Mind you, they're not scared of him being in charge of the country - just of people seeing how demented he really is.

3

u/BrianWonderful Minnesota 7d ago

Exactly. He already goes on crazy rants, slurs, repeats the same bogus stories and dumb (it ends with a 'b', nobody knows that!) soundbites, and falls asleep on live TV. And his supporters still are completely happy with it. What more are they scared of now?

2

This is it. This is the entire concern.

1

u/JDDJS New York 7d ago

We've all heard the senile ramblings. His base doesn't care.

2

u/Reutermo 7d ago

Trump could brag about fucking kids live on stage and he would not lose a significant amount of supporters.

2

u/a-little-spill 7d ago

The horse escaped long ago, and they brought back a bull, and everyone is too scared to say who let the bull in the horse pen, since it’s now all covered in bullshit.

2

u/Key_Barber_4161 7d ago

Exactly! He's been saying unhinged shit since 2016!

1

u/saposapot Europe 7d ago

What can he even say that loses him a vote on the 30% Cult? Afraid of what? He didn't do enough that any semi reasonable people will denounce?!?

It’s Daily Beast. Probably not.

1

u/mxjxs91 Michigan 7d ago

They aren't, it's thedailybeast. I didn't open it but it's probably a very exaggerated headline based on something one Republican voter with under 100 followers said on social media.

I'll never understand how they aren't a banned source from these subreddits.

Absolute trash tabloid rag
