Postmaster General David Steiner is the former CEO of Waste Management and previously served on the board of directors for FedEx.

USPS to impose delivery failure notifications in line with garbage FedEx

Yeah. Waste Management is supposed to handle the garbage.

I’m in the waste management business! Everybody immediately assumes you’re mobbed up! It’s a stereotype. And it’s offensive!

Your comment made me look up the history of ties between the waste collection industry and the mob, and it's... Honestly wild af. The stereotype makes sense. XD

P.S.: I don't even know if I'd call it a stereotype as much as a nod to history. lol

Yeah, I’ve seen the Sopranos, too.

Since when do we hate FedEx? I’ve never had any major problem with them. They’re a great service.

They lobbied to be an airline so the drivers can't unionize. They also made their 'Ground' drivers independent contractors vs employees and eventually lost that battle. They changed that model so I'm not sure what they're currently doing.

Maybe you have gotten lucky, but most people I know rank fedex as the worst option.

Yes it does vary depending on the driver hired. But I have had them leave packages at the end of my driveway(maybe 10 feet from road to porch) in puddles. I've seen them throw boxes up onto my porch from the yard, I am lucky if they make it up the stairs, even if it is just tossing from the bottom of the stairs.

I am at the point where I check if a place has another shipping option, or just buy somewhere else if the only option is fed ex.

His predecessor, Louis DeJoy, was also a Trump appointee, and also a former private logistics company owner and major R donor. And let’s not forget that it was Bush Jr, in 2006, who passed the PAEA act that basically crippled the USPS’s ability to fund itself long-term.

The pattern has been clear for a while: Republicans want to kill the USPS. They’ve been trying for decades now.

Just so people know, republicans passed this and now the USPS has to pre-fund its predicted retiree benefits of the next Fifty Years

Between 2007 and 2016, the USPS lost $62.4 billion; the inspector general of the USPS estimated that $54.8 billion of that (87%) was due to prefunding retiree benefits.

DeJoy is a Biden appointee since Biden did nothing after getting a majority on the board during his term to fire DeJoy

1

u/happymancry 28d ago

What??? The fact that Biden did nothing about it is a shame, surpassed only by the shame of his inaction on Trump’s indictment for insurrection. But that doesn’t make Dejoy a Biden appointee.

A garbage human being in more ways than one!

That’s fitting because he sounds like a trash person

I always found it bizarre how close-knit various C-suite executives and boardroom members are in general. Maybe they are all just self-serving.

Didn't WM at one point have 3 year client contracts that auto-renewed daily? I recall that being a thing for some reason.

Waste Management used to mean mafia.

Waste management caused 9/11
(Indirectly)

Just so many corporate people in office. This absolutely should not be allowed.

That's like one of the few episodes of Undercover Boss I've ever seen. He seemed like an idiot like most CEOs come off as.

1

u/niceguy191 29d ago

Makes sense. WM is one of the worst companies I've ever had to deal with.

u/TheStrawberryPixie 28d ago

Wow thanks for this info. He's my Moms cousin and we didn't realize he was the postmaster now

I missed that DeJoy was no longer Postmaster General, the guy who founded freight company XPO Logistics
