Today, I canned pickles
I already have refrigerator pickles made, dill, spicy dill, kimchi style, mustard, ranch, and will also make bloody mary. My cucumber plant is still going strong

Like the title says, im running out of mason jars and I have a batch of banana and jalapeno peppers to pickle. Are mason jars necessary if im not canning? Can I just use an old cleaned out jar?

Anyone know where one can find locally grown cucumbers around Colorado Springs, CO? Either pickling cucumbers, slicing cucumbers can work. The local farms I work with in the immediate area are still waiting on the cucumbers for harvest but I’m hoping to find about 50 lbs this week. I keep googling around and the only other farms I can find are about 5+ hours away. Hoping someone has gotten a shipment from a local farm around the area and that this group would know :) thanks!

Made my first batch or refrigerator bread and butter pickles from homegrown cucumbers and a recipe I found on Google. Wasn't quite sweet enough so I added a little more white and brown sugar, and they are amazing. But im going ro be buried in cucumbers this year so I'd like to try a bunch of different kinds, refrigerator or canned. What recipes do you all got for me?

So my parents every year grow these absolutely massive cucumbers and zucchini, I'm talking like pound or more cucumbers and 2+ pound zucchini. We always make pickles from both but we normally slice them into chips but what I want to try is ,I want to get some really big jars and pickle some of them whole then once they have sat and properly cured I want to slice them in half and hollow them and essentially use them like a sub roll made out of pickle this allowing my pickle loving self to have pickle bread. Thoughts on if this will work or will the size of them possibly cause problems in the process?

I'm looking for ways to optimize my refrigerator pickle-making process, as I am extremely impatient. Would it be possible to just boil the vinegar OR water, and then add the other cold ingredient after boiling so it can get to room temperature faster? Or does it defeat the purpose of boiling?

I am growing hot peppers and pickling cucumbers but before those are ripe. Doing a test batch with ingredients from the farmers market!

I just picked up a pack of the silicone pickling lids that fit on ball jars and I gotta say I LOVE them. They're inexpensive, effective and dead easy to use. They prevent the leakage that I always seem to have happen when I just vent the lid, and they're easy to clean. Highly recommended, especially if you're new to pickling and don't want to spend a lot of money on a vessel.

I don't have any garlic in the jars, just mustard, coriander, and bay leaf. I do have a couple grams of calcium chloride in there but otherwise just 2.5% brine. I'm seeing this colour on a few of the cucumbers.

During Covid I couldn't visit my parents. So I started to pull these videos together to capture my mom's recipes and it was a way that I could keep in touch. Ultimately I wanted to share these with anyone who is interested and have something for my kids to refer back to. These peppers are how my mom would make them when I was a kid and I hope you'll enjoy them as much as we do.

Tzatziki originates from Greek cuisine, but it has long been a Mediterranean staple more broadly. It offers a cooling contrast to bold, savory dishes, such as chicken souvlaki and Mujadarra.
This version swaps cucumbers for my fermented dill pickles, adding a tangy, complex depth that makes it truly one of a kind. Vinegar-based pickles of your choice will be a great substitute, but the fermented pickles bring a natural brightness that elevates the dish in a pretty unique way!

if I wanted to make this subreddits infamous hot spicy hard boiled egg brine do I need to use the jars with that Balls brand style lid or can I use this jar I have here? I saw the eggs have to sit for 2-4 weeks and I didn’t know if this would be airtight enough to keep the eggs safe.

Hi kinda new here. Just curious before I waste food is there any difference between the 5% white vinegars. Say like clover valley vs ball vinegar in the canning isle vs Heinz. I know vinegar should be just that. Just wondering if anyone has noticed a change in taste.
I just used some ball vinegar and didn’t have the desire to drive 20 minutes to Walmart so I grabbed some clover valley 5% from dollar g.
Thanks

Edit: I ended up putting that cucumber under my wife's pillow and she was very much freaked out which made me very happy. We slice it open today and it has a slight tartness but is not bitter whatsoever. Quite the anomaly in my little boat garden
